An authentic Italian place on a charming street in Trastevere. The lady behind the counter was very friendly, and the sandwiches and desserts looked great. I only had the chance to try the cannoli and cappuccino, and I was satisfied. There are so few authentic places like this in Rome amidst all the tourist clutter. It's a shame I'm leaving tomorrow and won't have the chance to visit again.

INCIPIT: An entrance that invites you to linger. WHERE: Walking along Via della Lungaretta, one of the oldest streets in Rione XIII (Trastevere), you come across a small building with an ochre-colored facade. A small sign with the captivating slogan: OPERE & CAFFÈ. A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: Entering, I found a small but welcoming space, where the aroma of coffee mingles with that of croissants. The counter displays golden pastries, puff pastry, biscuits, and small, daily pastry creations. I ordered a coffee and a croissant, a simple breakfast, but the perfect way to start the day. The place, with its few tables and warm lighting, seems tailor-made for those seeking a short but authentic break.

Friendly staff and fair prices! I recommend it. I'm changing my review a bit because the owner is sometimes nice and sometimes unpleasant. So she has some mood issues, treating you nicely or badly depending on how she feels.

I had a double espresso at the counter. One coffee wasn't good. The service was okay, but the bar was nice.
