13/04/2025: I was invited to a birthday dinner at the Il Fagiano Restaurant and the overall experience was positive.
Upon arrival, you are welcomed into a fascinating location: a noble house with carefully designed furnishings. The entrance with the double flight of stairs leads to a warm environment with a truly pleasant atmosphere. We appreciated the small relaxation area with sofas near the fireplace (which was turned off during our visit) and the interesting area dedicated to the display of wines, which also shows the chef's courses and awards, a sign of attention to oenological and gastronomic quality.
The staff was one of the strong points of the evening: extremely welcoming, very kind and always available to provide explanations and assistance, both during service and to illustrate the buffet courses.
Speaking of the food, the highlight was undoubtedly the quail eggs with black truffle, freshly cooked on the griddle in the dining room: an original idea and a flavor much appreciated by all the guests. The seared tuna is also very good. Being a buffet dinner, perhaps the general presentation of the dishes was not particularly elaborate, but the quality was good and the helpfulness of the staff in describing everything more than made up for it.
The wines served during dinner were good and adequate. A small personal suggestion concerns the pairing with desserts: I would have found a sweet sparkling wine more suitable than the proposed extra dry brut, to better enhance the final flavours.
Outside, the garden is very well-kept, pleasant and romantically lit, creating a suggestive atmosphere. It would be perfect if there was also a small play area to entertain the children, but it is still a very pleasant outdoor space.
In conclusion, Il Fagiano offers an excellent combination of a charming historic setting, impeccable service and good quality food, with highlights such as truffle eggs. A few small details that can be improved do not detract from a highly recommended experience, especially for special occasions or a romantic dinner.
