During a visit to Foligno last June, I stumbled upon a small delicatessen that turned out to be a true gem hidden in the heart of Umbria. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt a warm and authentic atmosphere, steeped in tradition, passion, and a deep love for local products.
The star of my visit was an extraordinary prosciutto crudo, probably one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of tasting (which I enjoyed accompanied by a delicious focaccia). Freshly sliced with artisanal precision, the prosciutto boasted perfect marbling and a deep pink color that promised wonders from first sight.
In taste, each slice was a small masterpiece: delicate yet flavorful, with a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. It literally melted in my mouth, releasing aromas that spoke of months, if not years, of slow and meticulous curing. It wasn't just a product to be eaten: it was a complete sensory experience, capable of evoking the Umbrian landscape, the work of expert hands, and a centuries-old gastronomic tradition.
The deli staff, Mrs. Roberta and her son, were equally extraordinary: friendly, knowledgeable, and visibly proud of the products they offer. They enthusiastically explained the origins of the prosciutto, which is completely preservative-free, the curing method, and even recommended pairings with local cheeses and a light local red wine.
The deli's selection is wide and carefully curated: cured meats, cheeses, artisanal preserves, freshly baked bread and various biscuits (I tried lactose-free ciambelline), and other small local treasures. Everything is selected with obsessive attention to quality and authenticity.
In a world where flavors often become uniform, this deli represents an oasis of authenticity.
The place is meticulously maintained, clean, and beautifully decorated.
Highly recommended to anyone passing through Foligno—whether you're a foodie, a curious tourist, or simply looking for something delicious, you can't miss this experience. And if you're there, don't miss the prosciutto crudo: it's a culinary delight.

Careful and authentic food. Super helpful staff.
