I have known Nonno Marcello since he was called Marcello, the name of his grandfather who founded this extraordinary diner which in the evening also becomes a rotisserie and pizzeria. I have practically had lunch and dinner at Nonno Marcello's for 40 years, ever since I came with my parents. The first courses, as well as the second courses and side dishes, are all freshly made, always hot and very tasty. The flavors are the same as always, that is, traditional Bari cuisine. I, who love tomato sauce very much, always find a huge variety of extraordinary dishes: lasagna, baked pasta, macaroni with sauce. And what about the best meatballs with meat sauce in the world, stuffed mussels, meatloaves, sausages, fish, fried fish etc. It is impossible to list all the very high quality recipes that can be enjoyed at Nonno Marcello. Furthermore, Nonno Marcello is a favorite destination for illustrious people from the world of art: the well-known Italian guitarist Franco Cerri, every time he came to Puglia and Bari, before going to the hotel asked me to take him to Marcello. Here he took no less than two portions of Broad Beans and Chicories seasoned with only an extraordinary extra virgin olive oil. And then in the evening: classic panzerotti (with tomato and mozzarella, meat, or with strong ricotta), classic or salmon arancini, potato croquettes, pizzas etc. etc. And then the pizzas. In short, if you want to enjoy typical cuisine in a traditional, simple, practical and genuine environment, sitting at a long counter at the display windows of ready-made dishes, or sitting in the room with table service, Grandpa Marcello is almost always my favorite choice and the most sincere advice. The costs are extremely honest. Extreme courtesy, kindness, speed of service, all in a family style and always with a smile. Grandfather Marcello is all this and much more. Also highly recommended for tourists who want to live a typically city experience for the first time. All my foreign friends, in Bari for work, always ask me to return to Nonno Marcello.

Parmigiana ❤️ I tasted parmigiana for the first time and I was thrilled. You can either take the food with you or eat it on the spot. I'm not local, so seeing throngs of locals here was a clear indication that the food was going to be perfect.

Dishes packaged in home style, perfectly consistent with the proposed environment. Excellent choice also in the number of courses offered. What to say? If you're in a hurry but would like to be at your mother's house, it's an excellent idea to go to the legendary Marcello!

At home!!! We feel at home here! It's a permanent stop! We always come back as soon as possible and even during the week and the welcome from Riccardo and all the staff is always top!! The food is good and healthy, even the pizza is super!!! Highly recommend!!

Great place for takeaway but also for a quick meal

Una istituzione a Bari, uno di quei posti dove fanno VERAMENTE piatti tipici e caserecci, senza i fronzoli e i lustrini per turisti del centro. Purtroppo questa tipologia di locale ormai è in via di estinzione nella società attuale :( Il locale si trova in periferia, frequentato solo da gente del posto. Si possono trovare tanti tipi di gastronomia, dai primi ai secondi fino alla rosticceria(straordinari soprattutto i panzerotti, tra i migliori in città) Volendo fanno anche la pizza ma consiglio di lasciar perdere, qui dovete mangiare le squisitezze del posto, la pizza mangiatela a Napoli. P.S. Non cambiate mai, restate sempre così!
