NaturalMente In Varenna

We lived in Varenna a few summers ago and this was our go-to place. Great food!! The owners are wonderful simpatico people who always made us feel like family. You can eat there or just buy groceries and produce. The place is really cute. They carry a lot of organic and gourmet products, so if you are doing your own cooking, this is the place to go for the best of everything. We would love to come back again!

Small, touristic shop probably targeted entirely at tourists as the prices are probably 3 times higher than your average regular supermarket. The selection is not the largest, but it covers most of the basics, and the quality of what they do sell seems very good. For bigger shopping, though, you're better of going to a regular supermarket like Conad city in Bellano or Menaggio.

Just returned from Milan (Aug 2024) where we did a day trip to Varrena (Lake Como) via the train. We rented a boat so we wanted to get some picnic food and a bottle of wine and take that with us in the boat. This place has it all...food, desserts, cheeses, and wine. And it was on the way from the train station into the town. It's a small place so make sure to keep an eye for it.

Great store, you can find everything you need there. Also great Italian specialties such as pasta in all shapes, pesto, etc.

Don't buy coffee here, bad coffee, the cappuccino is an Americano with milk, the rest of what we consumed was fine

Young staff, very friendly. We took 4 sandwiches and 4 cool drinks and ate them in the shade, in the square on Via Embarcadero, next to where the ferry drops you off. Generous and freshly made sandwiches. It is also a supermarket. We ate cheaply, total €44 for four people.

A bit pricey but plenty variety and helpful staff
