Finally, thank God, real osterias still exist, those where the owner does everything himself, and to the best of his ability, without making anyone wait. The place could perhaps use a little updating, but Massimo, the owner and chef, offers a few dishes, but they're well-structured and perfectly cooked. His friendliness and helpfulness are unique. I was truly touched when, at the end of the meal, he offered us mandarins from his garden—a truly kind gesture, whereas in restaurants, everything is written down to the last detail on the receipt. By the way, the prices are fabulous; everything is truly excellent. Well done, Massimo!

I went today for the first time. Massimo is an authentic host, perhaps the only one left in Frascati.

One of the best places to eat authentic home cooking at a great price. The fettuccine is hand-cut and freshly made with perfectly cooked ragu. The owner is very friendly. The Vino dei Castelli is excellent. And the price is more than reasonable.

Entering is like opening a portal to the past, where simplicity and kindness reign supreme. Massimo immediately strikes you with his humility and kindness, a kindness that no longer exists in the world, and that alone is worth it. He truly makes you feel at home. The food was excellent, simple but delicious. In this day and age where everything is geared toward appearances, where people go to restaurants just to take photos and post them, it moves me to think that there are still people like Massimo you can go to if you want to eat and feel at home. Thank you ❤️

⸻ If you're looking for an authentic experience, far from mass tourism, this trattoria in Frascati is a true treasure. As soon as you enter, it feels like you've stepped back in time: an atmosphere of yesteryear, sincere, simple, and full of soul, like the eateries of the last century. The owner, Massimo, isn't just the heart of the place—he's everything: he personally cooks, serves with natural elegance and rare kindness. Each dish is freshly prepared, with dedication and care. We started with a fantastic mixed antipasto: sausages, flavorful potatoes, peppers and eggplant, prosciutto and salami, mozzarella. Everything was fresh, simple, and perfect. For our first courses, we chose lasagna and gnocchi—both handmade by Massimo himself, accompanied by a rich and authentic sauce. You can sense that each recipe has a story to tell. To conclude, Massimo offered us mandarin oranges, a genuine gesture that captures the spirit of the place. The wine is house-made, as sincere as the atmosphere. This place is a nightmare only because, once you've discovered it, everything else will seem fake. And that's a miracle, because experiences like this have almost disappeared in a world designed for tourists. Massimo carries on his family tradition, following in the footsteps of his mother, who once occupied the same place in the kitchen. If you want to experience the real Italy—the one that smells like home, not a postcard—this is the place.

We went to Frascati, strolling through the streets filled with restaurants, osterias, and trattorias. There were so many beautiful and inviting places, but a name, a logo—I'm not sure what—drew us to Da Massimo. It wasn't right in the center; we had to go down a side street... and finally we found ourselves in front of this simple, almost familiar-looking place. As soon as we entered, it truly felt like my grandmother's house: a welcoming atmosphere, with Massimo—a kind, white-haired man—who takes great care of his guests. Always ready to ask, "Do you need anything else?" We asked for a first course, and he offered us his fettuccine with meat sauce: "Are there two of you? I'll make you a generous portion." First, he brought us white wine and simple bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil... all homemade, fresh, and authentic. Then came the pasta: delicious, flavorful, and so generous it seemed made for three! Not content with that, Massimo also brought us some delicious small eggplants with bread, and at the end he offered us eggs from his chickens and a homemade grappa. It was an experience that went beyond good food: a return to a warmth and hospitality that is increasingly rare today. If you want to experience something authentic and feel part of a story that will stay with you, I wholeheartedly recommend Da Massimo. Give him a shout-out from me!

What truly stood out to me was the feeling Massimo created. It didn’t feel like going to a restaurant, but rather like visiting a grandfather’s home—where he generously shares whatever he has and insists on feeding you until you’re happily full. The whole experience was more about being a guest than a customer. The pasta was delicious, freshly made that very morning. Then he surprised us with fried eggplant and grapes, all served with such kindness and warmth. I believe we should value more of these local, family-style places. They may not fit into the modern category of “fancy” restaurants, but they shine with generosity, hospitality, and truly tasty food.

Al Turacciolo

27/01/2026: A pleasant place to spend time in company and with excellent wines
06/01/2026: The place is very beautiful and welcoming. We had a great time, the girls were very nice and kind... the wine was top notch! ✨ A very pleasant evening. P.S. I recommend making a reservation if you want to eat inside, even though four of us went and found a seat right away, but it wasn't very crowded yet.

Edoardo II

09/03/2026: It's not easy, especially in the center of Rome, where everything is consumed and moves so quickly, to eat well. At Edoardo's, in a welcoming restaurant run by friendly people with whom we were able to exchange a few non-trivial conversations, we savored excellent dishes in complete tranquility. It was a fitting end to a wonderful day. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Margherita, who guided us with kindness and professionalism in our choice of dishes, even giving us a very welcome bonus.
28/02/2026: We found this restaurant by chance online, a pleasant discovery...everything was excellent, from the service to the food and the quaint atmosphere. Highly recommended!
