I visited the previous location some time ago. Domenico Aquilino's passion shines through in his dishes, and even when he moves among the tables and chats with customers, his satisfaction is understandably evident. The seafood is based on fish. We started with a cod stick with a cream of peppers, caciocavallo cheese, and olives, which was delicious and beautifully presented. I also found the first course delicious: monkfish linguine with fresh cherry tomatoes and Taggiasca olives. The second course was also very satisfying: grilled gurnard, delicious. It's worth noting that he uses dry-aged fish, which was evident in the tenderness of the meat. The service was friendly and cheerful, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The wine list focuses on Calabria with a good selection. Highly recommended.

Last-minute choice and discovery.
Very elegant and meticulously crafted restaurants, with a lovely outdoor dining area, especially for summer evenings. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable in serving their customers. As for the food, I'm still not entirely convinced; my dish left a bit to be desired, both in terms of the freshness of the fish and the cooking of the rice, but I'll definitely give it another chance.

We parked the car right outside this restaurant, we went in and booked a starter, a first course and a second course. I have to say that it was worth it. We will definitely be back.

What a pleasant surprise this fish restaurant turned out to be!
Located right in the heart of the historic market of Lamezia, it didn’t disappoint at all. The staff are friendly, professional, and quick in serving, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
The ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. The spaghetti alle vongole were perfectly creamy, just as they should be, and the crostini with tuna and cipolla di Tropea are an absolute must-try.
If you’re looking for authentic dishes made with fresh ingredients at fair prices, this is definitely a place worth visiting.

È sempre un grande piacere ritornare al Merlo Rosso di Domenico e Mattia Aquilino, un posto dove trovare calore e qualità. Ottima la battuta di tonno rosso (in foto servita con datterini gialli e stracciatella); squisita e delicata la tagliata di tonno (cottura al sangue ovviamente), come tenero ma dal sapore deciso il polipo arrosto. Tutto esaltato da un esplosivo olio extravergine d’oliva di Tiriolo premiato da Gambero Rosso. E infine particolare che non guasta: andato a salutare la brigata in cucina, venivo accolto da blues ad altissimo volume per restare concentrati sul pezzo delle comande!
