19/10/2025: Since 1971, the "Alberto Pica" Gelateria and Bar has been located in the historic center of Rome, Rione VII (Regola), at Via della Seggiola 12, next to the Ministry of Justice. Famous primarily for its artisanal gelato, enjoyed in a tranquil setting away from the chaos of the city. Architecture and Atmosphere: According to tradition, the historic building that houses the gelateria, with its typical Roman architectural features, was once a stable in the early 20th century, owned by a family that raised cows along the Tiber and produced milk for gelato. Outside, umbrellas and tables invite you to a relaxing break. Inside, the recently renovated space is refined, with large mirrors, elegant chandeliers, and comfortable tables creating a welcoming and timeless atmosphere. I also took a break and enjoyed a hearty breakfast of coffee and a croissant. FUN FACT: DID YOU KNOW THAT...? The street takes its name from the ancient sediari, artisans specialized in chair making, particularly those woven from hemp. It was once called "Via dei Sediari alla Regola," a testament to the neighborhood's vibrant artisanal activity.
