14/01/2025: What makes a hotel special today? In my opinion, it is the people who work there and the philosophy behind it. It is also about paying attention to nature and respecting the environment, e.g. the traditions in the region. It is also about letting the guests participate in it by introducing them carefully, without the need for rules. That is an art these days. This is crowned by a lavishly laid table, without waste and excess, but with the special composition of the dishes and the selection of ingredients.
You will find all of this at the Gasthof Kohlern. Authenticity among the people who work there. Respectful interaction, lightness and relaxedness as a natural coexistence - guest and host. Exciting stories, integrated into nature. You don't want to leave there and yet it may be precisely the leaving that makes you look forward to the specialness of coming back. And every year there is something new to discover, selected with great care and love. Thank you for being there, dear Gasthof Kohlern team.
13/01/2025: The hotel to relax and recharge your batteries. Josef and his crew are really special. The last time we were there was 10 years ago. Now it worked again and we booked a room including half board over the Christmas period (December 23rd - December 26th, 2024).
I summarize the hotel services as follows:
1. Hotel
The house has a 125-year-old history. Josef spared no expense or effort to modernize everything. A living room with an adjoining open fireplace (wonderful), a restaurant with a panoramic view of the mountains high above Bolzano, a top wellness department...
The infinity pool and hot tub (open despite the cold and it was a show to be in there)
A wine cellar, a seminar room (all very, very tastefully designed)
2. Massages
A "must", the relaxing massage was a dream
3. Food & Service
The absolutely highly professional kitchen surprised us every day with first-class dishes. We enjoyed every dish in the multi-stage episodes. The 4-6 courses were an explosion of enjoyment. It's really amazing what the kitchen does and the quality of the food that comes to the table.
All, but absolutely all, of the service staff were professional, quick and absolutely friendly. Here I felt that the crew was behind Josef's concept. So it's really fun to be a guest
3rd room
We had room number 6 on the 1st floor
An ideal room for us with a balcony and the view over Bolzano was brilliant
The cleaning was simply perfect... and we and our dog 🐶 "Oskar" felt really comfortable.
Conclusion:
The house was already great 10 years ago.
Today Josef and his team have once again made a leap forward in terms of quality.
I am personally pleased that there are still such first-class hotels with top-class cuisine and service.
Celebrating Christmas with singing in the in-house chapel was something very special for us.
We just say 'thank you' for this great time. This house made our Christmas 2024 perfect.
We'll definitely be back💪
