The food is excellent, no doubt about it. Unfortunately, on Sundays, be aware that you might have to wait a long time, but that's understandable. However, if you want a truly Roman restaurant, where you can enjoy flavors and dishes that are different from the classic bastie and will leave you speechless, this is the place for you. Sweetbreads, nervetti, pulled pork, tripe, pajata, and oxtail.

A casual little place with shared tables, fairly quick service, and a bit limited on appetizers (good, but three fairly thin, 5-cm-long slices of grilled mortadella and two tablespoons of fried broccoli (excellent) don't seem like appetizers to me, but rather tastes).
Quite the opposite. The first courses were plentiful and very well-seasoned (the rigatoni with pajata was sublime).
Well-reviewed classic desserts, along with two complimentary amari, rounded out a great evening with my son. Mary's spoken menu was nice. A place worth revisiting for the second courses. I recommend it.

You go to Betto e Mary to savor that neighborhood Roman vibe, breaking away from the usual stereotype of a fake restaurant or trattoria.
There's nothing to complain about about the food; the dishes were all excellent and well-prepared, featuring Roman and Lazio dishes, with a few touches of central Italian regional cuisine here and there.
The place is sociable, the owner is cheerful, lighthearted, and charming in his ironic simplicity.
The service is basically a mix of young people running around trying their best, but that's fine because it's the place; otherwise, you'd be looking for something else.
However, I have to point out two sore points: I've been eating at Betto e Mary all my life. I understand the price increases because they exist, and you have to understand them. What I don't understand, however, is the portion size, suddenly halved.
If the price increase is there, and not by a small amount, at least leave the portion size as it was. In short, "make do with it, you do it well."

Betto e Mary isn't a restaurant; it's a true experience of raw, uncompromising Roman cuisine. If you're looking for linen tablecloths and whispered service, you've come to the wrong place. This is a temple of authentic Roman cuisine, in the heart of Torpignattara.
The atmosphere is decidedly rustic; in many ways, it's like an old tavern frozen in time. The place is spartan, the voices are loud, and the waiters are straightforward and direct (their slightly "pissed off" manner is part of the deal, take it or leave it!). You dine in an atmosphere of conviviality and cheerful confusion, where you immediately feel at home... provided you accept the absolute lack of formality.

Good Roman cuisine, top-notch service. Good value. The oxtail cacciatore and whiskey tiramisu are must-haves on the menu.

It does everything a Roman osteria should: you eat well and drink a lot.
I recommend the first course with chicken giblets and mushrooms.

Traditional dishes that are not easy to find elsewhere, a spartan atmosphere and an unfriendly host... excellent formula

First time here, but definitely not the last. Honestly, the best tripe I've ever eaten. The pasta with giblets is also excellent, as are the nervetti and puntarelle, oh my. Recommended for all non-Romans like me who want truly traditional Roman cuisine.
