As always, you eat well at honest prices, the owner is very characteristic, we are happy and I like to bring friends who come from out of town because it is the real Roman cuisine.

I have been to this place several times and it has always been a wonderful experience. We will be back soon to taste the real Roman cuisine once again. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Judging only with the stars is very simplistic, the overall evaluation takes into account the moment and not the complex. Betto e Mary is a tavern located between the Prenestino/Labicano and Tuacolano districts, in what is called the "mandrione" it offers simple, purely Roman cuisine based on the fifth quarter. The furniture is the classic expression of the 70s, striped on the walls with red checked paper tablecloths. The management is very friendly, the owner, son of the founders of the tavern, sits at the table to present the menu. The tastings, brought as appetizers, were much appreciated, which are, veal tongue, grilled mortadella, seasoned coppa, nervetti, horse meat, shredded horse meat with rocket, aubergine with mushrooms. The rigatoni with pajata was appreciated, the ravioli with horse meat was good, the first courses were completed by the "gramigna" with tail sauce, which I will talk about later. Gramigna is a long pasta with a square profile thinner than a tagliolino. As a second course, oxtail for everyone plus a plate of lamb pajata alla cacciatora, very good. The weeds ruined the taste experience of lunch, which overall was good. The kitchen made a mistake in salting the cooking water, presenting a very salty pasta dish and here is the rating given with stars. Total price €253, discounted to €210 for the "gramigna" problem I conclude with two questions; Do I recommend it? At the moment I don't feel like recommending it. Will we go again? Definitely worth evaluating again.

23/02/2025: Unfortunately I only have 5 stars, otherwise I would have given more, the place is one of the most characteristic Roman places, the owners and staff are very kind, the food (the reason why we went) far exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return

11/02/2025: Small family-run neighborhood restaurant. Simple, quiet and welcoming environment. Excellent cuisine, not only traditional recipes, excellent dishes especially fish. Curated wine list with non-trivial choices. The young managers, the lady in the kitchen and her husband, an expert winemaker, in the dining room, were very kind, helpful and professional. Even without the coupon we used, the prices are honest in relation to the quality. Very recommended.
12/01/2025: I ate fish (first and second course) with a final side dish of roast potatoes. I was satisfied with the quality of the food, also appreciating the quantity of the absolutely satisfying portion. Typical atmosphere of a restaurant with a small environment that reminds me of a cuisine from years ago, without toxic invasions of modernity. A surprise for me: the absolutely delicious and crunchy accompanying bread.
