Maido In Milano

So happy that Maido is back in Milan... New location, very cute, brightly lit Variety of okonomiyaki, onigiri, udon... As always, it's ideal for a quick lunch, fast service.

Very good matcha and the dishes are great too!

Maido is the first Okonomiyaki street food restaurant in Italy, meaning that once you cross the threshold, you enter the magical world of Japan, through the most popular street food dish in Japan's second largest city, Osaka. Little known in the West, Okonomiyaki is nonetheless very familiar to fans of Ranma 1/2 and Kiss me Licia: Licia's father, M'arrabbio, actually ran a small Okonomiyaki restaurant (which Giuliano the cat—and others—were fond of!). Through the open kitchen, you can peek at every stage of the dish's preparation, and once seated, you can sample Japanese specialties such as miso soup, onigiri, edamame, yakisoba, griddle-cooked wheat noodles, and rice burgers, chicken in teriyaki sauce, or beef sautéed between two disks of pressed rice. I loved the Katsu Sandwich: a typical Japanese sandwich filled with tonkatsu, Japanese mayonnaise, and cabbage. A must try!

I was there this evening, the food was excellent, the place was very clean and the staff were friendly.

Maido is the best if you are looking for the best onighiri in Milan: authentic, fresh and masterfully prepared according to Japanese tradition. Here you can breathe real Japanese cuisine, without frills but with lots of taste and quality. Perfect for a quick but truly satisfying lunch.
