23/06/2025: We were surprised by how good everything was. Simple, creative, and delicious.
02/06/2025: After receiving a Smartbox for a gourmet dinner for 2 we opted for this restaurant given the many positive reviews, but the experience turned out not to be as expected.
Saturday night: we were only 2 couples in the entire restaurant.
The restaurant is half under a building and half all veranda in a garden…
The courses follow one another with beautiful presentations and with fairly detailed explanations given by the kind and courteous waitress. However, each dish is "too mixed", with too many flavors and too many ingredients not combined but mixed in the true sense of the term.
The combinations are not enhanced but each ingredient is lost submerged by the other, causing the unitary taste to be lost and left confused.
From the appetizer in the shape of a roll with various ingredients of sea, land, fried eggplant peels and puree of something, to the broken spaghetti with too much mushroom sauce, stracciatella and 1 mini red shrimp (but the sauce was really too excessive) up to the sea bass also presented in the shape of a roll, or involtino, divided into 2 parts and also this placed on a puree of... I don't know... the flavors get lost. The sea bass also seemed good, but it was cancelled out by too many other flavors and by the crunchy transparent crust that wrapped it which however was too sticky and gluey in the mouth.
Unfortunately this is repeated until the dessert. This also looks good to the eye but then the creamy/ice cream with sweet crunchy crumble, honey dripping, pieces of meringue, banana chips and a yellow puree of I don't remember what also sweet makes you lose the only strong flavor that had struck me which was that of a nice coffee.
The accompanying breads are simple but well made: mini baguette, red pizza, small sandwich, 2 breadsticks, and 2 pieces of focaccia alla pugliese.
In conclusion I admit that we expected something different, no dish impressed us, no combination made us say wow, but everything left us a bit perplexed, as well as the bathroom of the place that would require renovation or modernization.
The fact that even the waitress never asked us how our tasting was going and if our dishes were to our liking left me suspicious. Did she also know that something was going wrong?
Is it better not to ask to avoid any criticism on the dishes?
Maybe the chef still has to find the right way and what I can recommend is: LESS IS MORE.
Apart from the Smartbox we paid €8 for two for service and 1 natural water.
