We loved everything, but the best thing was their house wine. One of the nicest we drank on this trip!

We went to the trattoria based on recommendations we received for good value for money, which is true. We faced a short queue, but the friendliness of the employee who greeted us made up for it. We sat outside, and the bonus was a view of the Colosseum.
We ordered the tomato suppli as an appetizer (a fried rice ball), shrimp risotto, carbonara, and lasagna, accompanied by a liter of house red wine.
The best dish was the carbonara, very tasty. The lasagna was very good. The risotto left much to be desired, including the seasoning, but especially because there was an expectation of having some shrimp in the dish and only 1 came. We found this very disappointing.
They don't charge a cupperto or a fixed tip, you give what you think is best. The employees are really very kind and friendly and do everything for good service. It's the restaurant's biggest highlight.
Regarding the environment, I deducted one star because of the bathroom, as there was only one stall available for everyone (creating a queue) and the tap didn't work (they connected a hose to a tap below to turn it on when washing hands). I believe they could have paid more attention to the cleanliness of the bathroom and to this tap issue.

Trattoria Luzzi presents itself as an oasis of authentic, unpretentious Roman cuisine in the heart of the city, offering a true taste of Rome, far from the excessive tourist ostentation yet still conveniently located. My visit was anticipated and largely justified, as the restaurant doesn't aspire to be "gourmet" or "upscale," but rather offers genuine, honest, and flavorful tradition. The atmosphere is typical of an old-fashioned Italian trattoria: loud, lively, and often crowded, filled with laughter, conversation, and the clinking of cutlery, which contributes to a sense of community, although service is quick and sometimes rushed due to the large crowds. The culinary journey began with two iconic pizzas. The Pizza Margherita had a thin, crispy Roman-style crust, a fresh tomato sauce, and quality mozzarella: a model of everyday Roman pizza. The Pizza Capricciosa, on the other hand, was impressive for its perfect balance of prosciutto, mushrooms, olives, and egg, rich in flavor yet light in texture. The true test of the cuisine was the Coda alla Vaccinara: a cult Roman dish, prepared in the classic manner, slowly braised until the meat literally melts off the bone. The sauce was thick, deep, and rich, a testament to the respect for tradition, and the portion was extremely generous. The conclusion was the homemade Tiramisu, a classic execution with a strong espresso and a delicate mascarpone cream, the perfect finale to a hearty Italian dinner. As a food critic, the absolute strength of Trattoria Luzzi is undoubtedly the prices: they are extremely affordable and represent excellent value compared to many other centrally located establishments. This is a place that proves that you can eat well, abundantly, and authentically in Rome without breaking the bank. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars, a well-deserved rating for one of Rome's best and most affordable trattorias, where the small lack of refinement in service and ambience is more than made up for by the culinary experience and affordability.

I was really nice dining out here. So nice, that we went two times throughout the course of a couple of days in Rome. We really liked the pasta carbonara and the salame piccante pizza as much as the gnocchi pasta (available only on Thursday). They were really delicious, made with love on the spot, without premade ingredients. The prices were very, very good and atmosphere was really Italy-like. I recommend! 🍝

Incredible quality for the price! I especially recommend the eggplant parmesan and the tiramisu—some of the best we've ever had! The waiters are super friendly and the service was excellent and fast.

Great place, genuine Italian atmosphere with good prices. Risk of queue if you come "at the wrong time", 1 liter of house wine for 6eu and pizza under 10eu, good food and their tiramisu is magical!
