Lostu In Monforte d'alba

Dinner for two, pleasant and well-kept restaurant, imprecise service (we requested a certain order of courses at the table, but... it wasn't respected: all the dishes arrived to one diner while the other was halfway through dinner). Some dishes didn't match the description on the Piedmontese menu and were far from the original recipe (e.g., marinated anchovies with salsa verde instead of "anciue al verd"!), and several inaccuracies in the explanations of the ingredients in the dishes (one in particular: risotto alla cantoira, where it wasn't clear what the cheese was and where it came from despite repeatedly asking the waiters for explanations). The desserts were passable. Overall, a menu with little identity, given the location and the name. I wouldn't return.

We booked (well in advance) for a Sunday lunch in October. First thing to note: the restaurant is set with many large tables. This results in some couples' tables being at the back of the room, in a blind spot. This meant we couldn't enjoy the panoramic view of the Langhe hills. We ordered the €35 Piedmontese Disnè menu, which offers eight courses of appetizers and desserts from the cart. All dishes were delicious, with quality ingredients, in sufficient quantities to fill us up. A special mention goes to the cauliflower frittata, whose consistency almost resembled crème brûlée! The desserts were simple but delicious too. I'd also add a wide selection of wines, obviously mostly local. The final price is in line with the offer, and the service was attentive. We'll gladly return, hoping this time to enjoy the panoramic view.

One of the best places I've ever eaten! At Lostu, simplicity becomes extraordinary: traditional dishes, made with humble ingredients, are transformed into true taste experiences. The ravioli with rice and coj, in particular, were spectacular, an explosion of flavors that left me speechless. The location is elegant and welcoming, the staff attentive and extremely kind: a place that captivates and I can't wait to return!

An excellent osteria where you can enjoy authentic, traditional Piedmontese cuisine. The dishes are beautifully presented and delicious. The view from the restaurant over the Langhe is a real plus. We highly recommend this culinary experience if you're in the area!

Let's talk about the restaurant: what can I say, it's marvelous. The place is impeccably decorated, a blend of traditional (cork corks, vintage prints, checked tablecloths) and modern, with beautiful windows overlooking the hills. The food is all excellent. Prices are average for the Langhe.
