Ortone is a wonderful restaurant. Giammarco was our waiter. He recommended the best dishes with professionalism and kindness. We ate wonderfully for a great price/quality ratio. I recommend Ortone if you're in the area.

We ordered the Tuscan steak; the meat was of average quality and, more importantly, far too overcooked. The price-quality ratio was quite average. The service, however, was good and the waiters were very friendly.

The four of us visited during a multi-generational vacation to Florence. We had an excellent dinner and thoroughly enjoyed both the service and every course. We started with the chicken liver pate, which was fantastic. Two of us ordered pasta: the linguine with tiny clams Versiliese style and the maltagliati with duck ragout, laurel, and cocoa nibs. The other two had the braised beef cheek and the roasted pigeon. I had never tried pigeon before, but it was delicious. We also shared sides of sautéed spinach and a mixed salad. For dessert, we enjoyed gelato, mille-feuille, and yogurt mousse, and all were excellent. Everything was beautifully prepared, and the service was warm and professional. Our only small criticism was that the cocoa nibs on the duck pasta were a bit of a distraction from the otherwise wonderful flavors of the ragout. Even so, it was a memorable meal, and we’d happily return.

Overall good. Very good pasta, good meat. But Tiramisu was a disappointment. Great value!
