L’Oro Dei Contadini In Assisi

Chosen without any prior information, by intuition, this beautiful osteria a few steps from the church of San Pietro in Assisi turned out to be a very positive gastronomic surprise. Strangozzi with truffles followed by seared lamb, are dishes of a certain importance and although demanding, they were easily assimilated without any hesitation, with a white half grechetto added to the table as an aid, which I know is allowed to be drunk without a hit. Friendly, polite and efficient service. Fair account, what else can I say, we'll be back.

A slightly old-fashioned place but it has its charm, the waitress is very kind and friendly and the aubergines, baked potatoes, strangozzi with truffles and maltagliati with leek and white ragout were simply superlative!

We chose the Osteria Ristorante L'oro dei Contadini in Assisi for the New Year's Eve dinner on 31 December 2024, and it was a simply perfect decision. The welcome was warm, thanks to Elena's kindness and availability, which made the evening even more pleasant. We felt pampered and almost like family. A great strong point was the attention paid to our dogs, welcomed with great care and love. It's not easy to find restaurants that offer such special treatment even to four-legged friends, and this one really impressed us. As for the food, what can I say? Simply fantastic. Each course was an experience for the palate: quality ingredients, preparations with attention to the smallest details and impeccable presentation. All accompanied by attentive and always smiling service. The quality-price ratio was excellent, an added value that left us fully satisfied. The atmosphere of the place is welcoming and genuine, perfect for spending a special evening. We highly recommend this osteria to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable dining experience in Assisi. Truly TOP, very kind staff, excellent and tasty food. It is perhaps a little too expensive but it is repaid for the goodness of the dishes, simple, genuine and without unnecessary frills; you can feel the quality of the products of the house and of the peasant culture. I travel around half of Italy and have rarely found such good places. I would go back immediately because they made me feel really good. I highly recommend it for anyone entering Assisi from the Papa Giovanni car park who wants to have a simple, tasty meal, without weighing themselves down to continue discovering the place.
