An intimate, very elegant restaurant with impeccable service, the dishes are fantastic. It's my favorite restaurant.💖
I have food issues and the chef always manages to prepare variations that are appropriate for my issues, all without sacrificing the taste and elegance that he gives to his dishes.

Ristorante in stile moderno ricavato nell’ antico castello abbaziale di Sant’Ambrogio del XI secolo voluto dal Barbarossa, rispettando le antiche mura, ambientazione davvero suggestiva, piatti davvero gustosi e belli da vedere, tradizione e ricerca dei sapori, davvero buoni il carciofo con mousse di mortadella, i ravioli di toma, fantastico il risotto con crema di zucca, gamberoni e crumble al cacao e il medaglione di fassona, dolci favolosi in particolare la cremosità dello zabaione al moscato, prezzi più che allineati alla qualità e ai piatti, strada per accedere al ristorante sicuramente non consigliabile a disabili e chi ha problemi di deambulazione. Ci torneremo sicuramente per assaggiare altri piatti.

Review for the restaurant.
L'Om 'd Fer is the result of a well-done renovation of an ancient medieval castle, located in the center of S. Ambrogio and right on the road that leads to the Sacra di S. Michele.
The place is very beautiful in the view it offers and in the contrast between the stone and the windows; the room is warm and the tables are well spaced apart.
We were also very happy with the food: beautiful proposals, good quality of the raw materials and excellent preparation techniques. The appetizers are the highlights, with refined flavors and in perfect harmony in the combinations; the first courses are also of excellent workmanship and balanced in taste (just a few doubts about the quality of the shrimp used); the second courses are also good (with the exception of the pumpkin with fondue which we didn't particularly like).
The Barbera is also excellent.
Overall I would give 4.5 for the food, with a fifth star that I don't feel like giving for three aspects:
1) Courteous service, but detached and never smiling, almost intimidating (more than one diner pointed this out to me)
2) The portions that on some appetizers or second courses seemed too small to me (first courses all ok)
3) At a table with 10 seats and 400 euros for lunch, they charged a 1-year-old child €2 for the mere use of the stool to sit at the table: for the series "like getting lost in a glass of water".
Note: If you bring a cake, you will be charged €1.50 per person for cutting it.
