I am very attached to this place from past experiences when it had another management so for me it has lost its "warmth" and I found it a little aseptic and lacking in personality but NOTHING TO COMPLAIN about the quality of the food, the place is convenient for the large parking lot, space and a discreet location.

Traveling along the SS223, almost halfway between Grosseto and Siena, if you are not distracted, on your left you can clearly see a small village "perched" on the top of a hill. The road sign indicates the exit for Civitella Marittima. Take this exit, go around at the two roundabouts that you will find on the road to Civitella. After the second one you immediately see to take a small uphill road (parallel to the SS) that after a few meters takes you right to the parking lot of the "Ristorante Pizzeria L'Olivo" in the locality of Le Merlaie.
I stopped there just today (14 May 25) returning towards the unhealthy "piattura Padana" after a more than happy wandering through the lands of Tuscany.
The restaurant is in the complex of a typical old Tuscan farmhouse framed by olive trees and fragrant brooms. It has a more than generous parking lot so no problem about where to leave the car.
Unfortunately, it doesn't give you an idea from the outside, but the surprise comes when you cross the threshold of the restaurant. A few steps and you find yourself in a really nice environment. The first room with exposed beams while the second is a little more "modern" but that immediately recovers thanks to a nice decor. The paintings are original and the overall view of the place is beautiful.
Okay, so far nothing that could rightly make you decide to take the trouble to stop in this restaurant ... true but, the best is yet to come.
The menu is certainly captivating and the dishes offered are decidedly inviting. Today we wanted to go for Tagliolini Cacio Pepe and Lime with Pink Shrimp, Calamarata with calamari spillo and finally Fried Calamari and Mezzancolle with a bowl of "orange sauce". However, believe me ... choosing is a difficult task, deciding what to give up is not so simple; you would like to take everything but, alas, you have to settle and postpone to a next visit. The "Pancia mia fatti cabina" is out of the question. hihihi
In conclusion:
everything we ordered was incredibly good. Compliments to the chef. The calamarata at first glance might seem bland and a little bad but, calm down, little by little the palate manages to perceive the various flavors; flavors that you don't expect and, fork after fork, it is a crescendo of taste. I am not exaggerating, I experienced this very pleasant sensation. The wife more than enjoyed the tagliolini.
I discovered the fried food with orange peel goes well with it. Very digestible fried food and on the long journey to Milan it didn't make itself felt at all.
From what my experience was, I can only speak well of it and recommend this wonderful temple of taste.
Perfect table service... without rushing as it rightly should be, leaving you the right amount of time between one course and the next. There is no lack of smiles and willingness to chat which enriches everything with a magical family tone.
Price: Very honest. More than fair value for money.
Good and WELL DONE. It was truly a well-judged stop and everything contributed to giving the right touch to a splendid day with a Tuscan flavour.
At least that's how I experienced it and I hope you can experience it like this too, with the right spirit and the same emotions.

Even though we went near closing time, they were considerate enough to allow us to eat. Plus, the taste of the pizza was the best I ate during the 5 days I was in Italy 👍

Informal and convivial pizza restaurant (evening only).
We had lunch on Easter Sunday.
Starter, 2 first courses including a herb risotto with perfect prawns and saffron gnocchi and tasty asparagus.

Great time with the family at Pizzeria l’Olivo. I tried to dust off my Italian, but without much success... luckily the waitresses were lovely and everything was sorted quickly with a smile.
The pizza dough is excellent, the pizzas very tasty and inexpensive. As for desserts, the cheesecake and cannoli were really great. Well-measured and inexpensive spritzes, and the table wine does the job without flinching. Warm, family atmosphere ideal for discussion and a good atmosphere. We will come back with pleasure!
