It was Valentine's Day, and we know these evenings can be a bit tricky to manage, especially since it was a weekend. We had to wait a bit before eating. It wasn't clear whether we should order at the counter or at a table, and that bothered me a bit, especially since people were coming in, ordering, and eating, while we were left waiting. That said, and I say this only because I recommend better organization, we had a decent meal, from sandwiches to pizzas, with excellent draft beer. I'd still recommend the place, but be careful about takeout, which is preferred to table service until a certain hour.

Pizzeria Lo Scoiattolo has become an almost obligatory stop for those traveling to Rivisondoli, Roccaraso, or Pescocostanzo on the weekend. Many leave in the late afternoon, endure the 40–45 minutes of evening traffic typical of the area... and then stop here for dinner. And rightly so.
It's a place that's been around for many years and has evolved over time: today it's more modern, more organized, and more efficient. Things have changed, sure, but the quality of the food has remained authentic and consistent with its history.
The pizzas are good, always reliable. But the real reason I keep coming back are the sandwiches: especially the sausage, provola, and porcini mushroom one, my favorite (and my son's too). A mountain classic, done right.
The strong point, besides the food, is the courtesy of the staff and the organization. Even at peak times, the place remains clean, tidy, and well-managed, which is far from a given. The products are good quality, the prices are fair, and there's ample parking outside—another great advantage.
I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area or just passing through. It's a surefire hit, especially on weekends.

I had the panino or saltimbocca. The portions were certainly generous, but nothing special. In fact, the version with the eggplant in oil was drowned in oil...

Squirrel's sandwiches are legendary! Whatever the combination, excellence is guaranteed. Delicious pizzas, friendly staff, and low prices for the quality. Although it's almost always busy, they're well-organized, keeping wait times to a minimum.

- Service: After ordering at the register, they give you a number that's valid for both the pizza counter and the sandwich area. Wait for your number and then go sit down; therefore, I recommend finding a table immediately after placing your order.
- Food: Good and tasty pizzas, especially the potato one. Superlative sandwiches: soft and flavorful dough similar to saltimbocca/pizza bread; well-cooked meat and topped with the freshest ingredients. Sauces are not included!
- Atmosphere: A bit chaotic, but that's probably because it was a Friday night.
- Location: Large, with a quieter veranda and a more chaotic interior, near the kitchen and register. Ample outdoor parking.
- Location: 40 minutes from Roccaraso and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Pescasseroli. Quiet area, on the way to the mountains.
- Opinion: This place has become a must-stop when we spend weekends in the mountains. Highly recommended!

Very crowded place, especially on weekends at any time. After lunch and until dinner, you have to wait in line of at least 20 people to get a pizza. However, they're very good and crispy. The sandwiches are truly delicious.
