We are delighted with this place! We wandered in by chance on a Google recommendation and it turned out to be a good idea! Friendly staff, delicious dishes, the terrace is beautiful even in the evening! And it’s great that now you don’t have to book a terrace. We took rabbit, wild boar, and gnocchi. Come, you won't regret it!

Restaurant to try if you are passing through San Gimignano: mixed antipasto board with high quality Tuscan products, very well cooked wild boar stew, perfectly balanced truffle carbonaras and local wines which are superb discoveries! With the added bonus of very reasonable prices for this quality, and very warm service, we highly recommend!

An excellent address! All the dishes ordered were excellent, as was the wine served with them (sodi lunghi), and we particularly appreciated the kindness of our waitress. Only one disappointment, only staying one day in San Gimignano, we would have liked to try all the dishes.

Absolutely beautiful setting and delicious food. We are gluten free and highly recommend! The spinach and ricotta ravioli was heaven. Wish we had been in Italy longer to be able to go back to this place.

30/11/2024: The view is great, the price is cheap and it’s delicious. The owner is also very kind.
19/11/2024: Arriving by chance on an evening in Monticchiello where everything was closed, we received a very kind welcome despite not having booked. Exquisite food above all expectations, excellent wine, impeccable polite and authentic service. There was not a single dish tasted that was not cooked to perfection and with a quality of raw material that is often not found in much more renowned restaurants. I was traveling with my dad who has already decided that on our return to Tuscany in April we will stop again at the guardhouse and Monticchiello, both deliciously authentic Tuscany!

31/08/2024: My evaluation is related to a restaurant, and what a restaurant it is! A trattoria like old times, simple and genuine dishes prepared with attention to raw materials. Gricia with excellent bacon, boiled in green sauce like grandma's and good tripe.
