Surprise restaurant. Upon entering you are stunned to find yourself faced with a truly beautiful, classy location given that it is in an area that is not exactly an Inn. Truly remarkable internal and external spaces as well as the excellent food on the menu. What can we say about the waiters...always attentive and thoughtful. Really a nice place for a nice evening. Seeing is believing.

No, you don't get there by chance and even I, who had been aiming for it for years and years, then actually struggled to understand whether it had a car park or not (it doesn't have one, the only flaw in this location) but there is 'large square in front which in general offers multiple possibilities. From the outside you wouldn't give it much because you can't imagine the volumes and breadth of what instead represents one of the most beautiful discoveries made in recent times. As in the tradition of northern Rome, here too there are large outdoor spaces (a beautiful atrium complete with a central fountain where you can eat outdoors and perfect for the evening) and multiple solutions inside, such as the veranda (ideal for the day) and she... the cave.... yes because this place, born almost 60 years ago, was originally a chip shop that churned out substitutes to serve the cinema which was located nearby and next to it there were the shops of the artisans, nestled in those caves close to the hill which still houses the remains of Livia Drusilla's villa, marvelous and unmissable (tourists, you must not miss it, especially if you admire the frescoes at the National Roman Museum). And so as soon as you enter you will be struck by this long tunnel dug into the rock, with side niches in which cellars have been created, a fireplace at the end which dominates an extremely particular environment and even a medieval well in the middle which reminds us that there is an aquifer nearby which fed the villa's spa (some remains can still be seen around the corner). A small cave even houses the private room of the restaurant but the surprising thing is that the new management has rearranged everything and created a wonderful mezzanine area, ideal for the winter resort, absolutely suggestive and capable of taking advantage of a further raised cave. An exhibition of contemporary works allows you to combine the pleasure of art with the beauty of a place with a rustic style, with exposed beams and large windows on the external patio which give a magic that is difficult to describe. But let's move on to the hard part, that of food. Menu full of land and sea dishes, with preparations also typical of Roman cuisine but the real surprise is that compared to average prices (not cheap but not excessive) you have generous portions (hurray, someone still cooks properly!) and delicious dishes. Friendly and fast service and you leave full and very satisfied: they make everything they can in house starting from bread, pasta and desserts. The ravioli with ricotta and spinach and cherry tomatoes sauce are delicious, the tonnarelli with smoked provola cheese and crispy bacon are unmissable, the sliced meat with chicory as a side dish and the fried squid are good, light and salty too, the sea bream in a potato crust is very delicate (well, maybe only the fried potatoes were nothing special but not despicable either, Ed.). On the desserts we go to applause: creme brulee top marks and very tasty tiramisu. Fair bill (maybe a coffee drink I would suggest), excellent lunch and a very friendly welcome in a place that represents a worthy end to a visit to the remains of the villa. So plan a trip to the ruins of the Villa of Livia Drusilla, Augustus' wife (both are a few hundred meters from the stop of the train that leaves from Piazzale Flaminio) and then come and eat here (you won't be mistaken with the other one that is calls in a similar way but which has nothing to do with this). I'll be back for sure, I don't know when but I'll be back... and if I've been helpful to you, leave a like and look at the other reviews I've made.

I had lunch today at this nice restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The appetizer was well balanced, as a wine they offered me a very delicate Soave white, but what made me fall in love was the tasting of the spaghetti with seafood... a sauce that was out of this world, which I had to make the "slipper" with bread so as not to leave anything on the plate. The owner was very kind and upon the arrival of a group of 9 people without reservations and with a wheelchair, he went out of his way to find a place and equip the ramp for disabled people. If I can, I will definitely return. In the meantime I recommend it. PS the dessert was also very good, I had the tiramisu. Fair price.
