L'Albero Della Cuccagna In Tortona

Discovered by chance... A very pleasant surprise. Excellent piadinas, a welcoming place, and very kind owners.

Yesterday we had planned a morning in Tortona, a market to barter for fresh pasta, a quick trip to Vercesi to buy Baci di Tortona and some delicious meat from the cookery, but we didn't manage to do anything about it. The market was half empty, the two stalls we needed were nowhere to be seen, and the other two shops were closed for vacation. Dejected, we strolled along Via Emilia and by chance, though I don't believe in chance, we stopped in for a coffee at the greasy pole. We were rewarded: excellent coffee, delicious pastries, friendly service, a welcoming atmosphere, and cleanliness. They recommended going to Casali if we wanted to buy Baci di Dama. And so we did, returning to get the car to head home, satisfied with a good breakfast served by cheerful and friendly people.
