A truly characteristic place, right in the heart of the Treja park on the Montegelato waterfalls. Rustic but warm and welcoming atmosphere. Excellent food, amazing pizza, friendly service and really affordable prices.

Literally opposite the entrance to the Ice Cream Mountain Falls trail, the old grindstone proved to be an exceptional find. The very rustic and welcoming location brings the mind back to simpler times, we have eaten inside but also have a covered terrace with a splendid view of the natural park. The head waitress, very kind and cute, was very helpful in giving us clarifications on the menu and also offered us a plate of rabbit fettuccine that had arrived by mistake as well as a round of sensational bitters to finish. The food was simply amazing in every course: there were 8 of us and we took 2 platters and 2 hot appetizers mixed with meats, all made up of local products of excellent quality (note of merit for the fried artichoke), a first course each (personally I took the fettuccine with hare rabbit from Viterbo which, although with a very homemade presentation, were delicious and plentiful, here too you could feel the quality of the raw material), grilled meats mixed with meats (the meat was cooked PERFECTly and the dish was also plentiful) and some also wanted to try the tiramisu, which was also delicious and prepared like it used to be. We also took the wine recommended by the waitress and the house wine and both were very pleasant. In short, we treated ourselves with kid gloves, eating perhaps too much but with great pleasure, with even a couple of coffees the final bill was less than 50 euros each which we happily rounded up so as to be able to leave him a well-deserved tip, but you can easily spend less and leave equally satisfied. Highly recommended if you want to go for a trip out of town less than an hour from Rome, the waterfalls are worth the visit and the old mill is a real jewel that will add a lot to your experience. Low prices, excellent quality and excellent service. We ordered a first course, a mixed grill for one person (plenty for two and with delicious meat), a side dish, dessert, water, wine and two coffees and we spent €55. We ate very well and the waitresses were very kind and attentive. Very nice to see the space for exposed embers. We will definitely be back.
