La Tavernetta In Roma

We met Claudio in the morning, and he enticed us to eat. We came back in the evening and liked the food, but the owner's friendliness was lacking. The Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe was very good. Also, the Spaghetti alla Pescatora.

Ristorante "La Tavernetta" has okay food, but it’s a bit of a tourist trap. There is a pushy guy who always sits on a chair in front of the restaurant and tries to draw people in. He seemed like a friendly guy, but way too desperate. I sat outside and had to listen to this guy try to talk to every person who walked by. It really got annoying. However, the prices aren’t extremely high given how touristy this restaurant is. I came here for breakfast and ordered the cheese omelette and some fresh squeezed orange juice. I enjoyed the orange juice and the eggs were pretty good too. I wish there was more cheese in the omelette instead of simply parmesan being sprinkled on top. Overall, it was a decent meal, but the pushiness is very alienating.

Good food, nothing to say, but with the excuse of the bruschetta it swells and the bill is not a little... if Roman but if smart

Enjoyed the best pasta I have ever eaten here, ricotta and spinach ravioli in a pesto cream sauce. So. Yummy! Service was fantastic, atmosphere was amazing sitting at a table on the sidewalk outside the restaurant enjoying the sights and sounds of Rome while we ate the most delicious food. Highly recommend.

The tiramisu (homemade) was super delicious, and I was able to eat vegetables for the first time in a while, and it was really delicious. However, I didn't read the reviews beforehand, and the price is certainly quite high. About twice as much as normal. It's so delicious that they should just get rid of the rip-offs...It's a shame that it's such a waste. Tiramisu was so delicious! (By the way, the tiramisu in the photo is half size for 4€)

I was in Rome in December 2024 and we got 'stung' here. only wanted a couple of carbonara's which were nice. The 'nice' gentleman who worked there said 'do you want some bread to start while we cook your fresh lunch' we got a bowl of bread then some meats.... the bread was 20 euros and the meat was 40 unbeknown to us. Instead of a quick, easy and cheap lunch we paid 112 euros. I challenged the man and was told he 'was a good catholic man and would never cheat anyone' The reviews here are justified, avoid this place and this man at all costs. This (our first) interaction in Rome set us off badly and set a bad vision of the people of Rome.

We spent a week walking down the street and the owner kept calling us. On the last day we decided to go because we were having luck with restaurants. The bread that is served (without ordering) is really mediocre. We ordered a cacio e pepe pasta, a French fries, a sparkling water and a lasagna. They were very good. The quantity was reasonable for the price on the menu. There were two customers who paid with a card, but before we left, an attendant closed the door and when I went to the cashier to pay with a card, he asked for cash. The whole thing came to 40 euros... I thought it was fair for 3 dishes, 1 water and 1 coffee in that area. I think we were lucky not to be robbed like many people here have reported, but I don't recommend it.

The guys were nice and not pushy about sidewalk selling but the food was marginal. My clam spaghetti was pretty good, but several clams didn’t open and the spaghetti was like store bought from the US. The bread -which we didn’t order and was 6€ was stale and maybe reused from other tables. We got sort of suckered right when we got to Rome and didn’t have our bearings yet. A little more patience would’ve paid off. We didn’t check the reviews. It is what is for a valid reason.
