We visited La Taverna dei Quaranta based on a recommendation. The restaurant initially impressed us with its beautiful location and truly pleasant atmosphere – you feel at home here. Unfortunately, our experience was very mixed: Food: The four-cheese pizza was a highlight – absolutely delicious! The pasta was okay, but the fish dish was disappointing: The fish itself was tasteless, and the potatoes were unfortunately burnt. A clear gap in quality. Service: There were significant differences in the staff. Two employees were friendly and accommodating, while two others seemed very unfriendly (rude) – this spoiled the evening. Prices: We found the prices too high for the quality offered (especially the fish). A place with potential due to its ambiance and pizza, but the wide fluctuations in food and service, as well as the price, mean we won't be back. If you want to try it, you should stick to the pizza for now.

I've been there twice. For dinner, everything was 5-star. From the food to the conversation with the waiters. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I decided to go back the next day for lunch, and everything changed... except the food. The waiter forgets about me, serving people who arrived after me (a regular office worker) first. He makes excuses when I call him out on it. Very bad. Go at night.

What a great place, affordable prices and the carbonara was delicious, and very close to the Colosseum!

Everything was great, the price was very good, and Marco, one of the waiters, was very helpful and pleasant. 100% recommendable.

A restaurant where they pamper their customers. Fantastic, delicious pizzas and delicious desserts. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in Rome. Marco is a truly professional, friendly, and above all, dedicated to keeping his customers happy. GREAT MARCO!

About 200 meters from the Colosseum I was afraid of finding only tourist places and with prices out of line with the quality... Instead here I changed my mind. "Forced" stop after the tour of the Colosseum, Palatine and Forums with two children in tow we couldn't go further. for four with 2 generous first courses, two substantial slices, a side dish, a pizza and two waters we "got by" with just over 80 euros. And we were more than satisfied. Recommended.

Excellent typical Roman osteria. Full of tourists a stone's throw from the Colosseum, but it is not a tourist trap, the bucatini all'amatriciana and the coda alla vaccinara are real and good, and if you speak Italian they understand you. It is no longer a given.

Thanks to Marco and his team. A very warm welcome and good Italian cuisine... plus we enjoyed dinner on the terrace with a view of the Coliseum, it's superb!
