Within sight of the Colosseum, on a side street in the city center, you can eat here at a reasonable price. The pasta was good, but we especially liked the focaccia we had as a starter. Simple but very tasty.

The best meal we had in Rome. Great service, good coffee, nice outdoor seating.

Great place very close to Colosseum, delicious food. And outside tables placed under sealing made of plants give this place unforgettable atmosphere.

I went to La Taverna dei Quaranta with my girlfriend after walking around Colosseum and honestly it felt like a good idea, like maybe the best choice we made that day, even if I was already tired and hungry. The pasta carbonara I had, creamy and tasty, a bit too heavy maybe but I kept eating it anyway, couldn’t stop. She got a pizza margherita, thin crust, chewy in some parts, I liked to steal a slice from her plate. The location, wow, ruins just next to you, makes you feel part of history, like eating in a museum but outside. The atmosphere was loud, people laughing, talking over each other, I didn’t even mind, gave that Roman chaos vibe that I actually enjoy. Prices not cheap, no, but with that view I guess it’s ok, I wouldn’t complain too much. We finished everything, left full, thinking already maybe we come back another time, or maybe not, depends how much walking we do next trip.

We went there after walking near the Colosseum and the location is like wow, just steps from the ruins and still inside it was kind of quiet, well not silent but enough to chill. The pasta with truffle I got was very homemade taste, earthy, maybe a bit too rich but I liked it, I think. My friend had pizza, the crust thin and the edge had that char, not burned but tasty, tasty, I say it again tasty. The waiter, he had a blue shirt, looked a bit in hurry but he still stopped and explained some dishes, even suggested a local wine that actually went well with the pasta, that detail made me smile. The vibe inside was cozy, small tables all close so sometimes you hear the people talking but not too noisy, actually kind of roman authentic vibe Prices… not cheap, yeah, but honestly for being right there in center and still good quality I felt it was fair, we left full, I keep repeating that because it’s rare you leave full and not angry about money spent. I maybe forgot something but overall the evening felt relaxed, except I almost spilled the glass because the table was tiny.

If you want something traditional and good, this is it. Big like!

Gorgeous outdoor seating and exceptional food with plenty of vegetarian options. Staff were all very polite and nice. Overall an amazing experience to eat here.

I was in Rome for 3 days and had such a great time that I went back on my last day. Good prices and great food! Excellent staff. I tried to replicate the carbonara, but yours turned out sooooo much better. 😁

Det er tredje gang vi besøger stedet. Denne gang sad vi udenfor og fik den dejligste mad til meget rimelige priser (1/2 l husets vin til 6€). Super venlig betjening. Kan på det varmeste anbefales.

Posizione centrale (150 metri dal Colosseo) . Servizio rapido . Abbiamo provato antipasto , primi e tagliata , tutto buonissimo ! Prezzi assolutamente onesti e nella media . La signora che era in cassa molto gentile e disponibile . Personale altrettanto gentile . Siamo stati serviti da Marco che ha soddisfatto tutte le nostre esigenze e si è preso dolcemente cura di noi super cortese prestando attenzione ad ogni dettaglio senza mai essere invadente .. Un saluto speriamo di rivederci presto !
