UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
After visiting the Castelcivita caves, we headed to Controne for a bite to eat and found the tavern. We were warmly welcomed by Donato, even though it was outside lunch hours. For food and wine, we followed the host's recommendations, which included introducing us to the deliciousness of authentic Controne beans in various variations.
For those visiting the caves or those in the area, this is an absolute must-see. Thanks to Donato for this wonderful discovery.

A very quaint restaurant near the city center, offering indoor, outdoor, and summer seating. Traditional cuisine with simple flavors, as tradition dictates. A must-try is the pasta and beans (from Controne). Impeccable service and very helpful staff. The house wine is also good. A special mention goes to the Annurca apple digestive made on-site: 🔝! Recommended.

We had the absolute pleasure visiting this restaurant. It is n the tow of Controne, Italy where my family immigrated from. We has a waiter that was so kind and knew a lot about the history of the beans that they serve. They use ALL LOCAL ingredients in their dishes. It was a great experience and I highly recommend that you visit if you are ever in Controne.

A start with a bang: Controne beans take center stage
The experience began with a vegetable appetizer that to call generous is an understatement. The highlight? A pan of Controne beans accompanied by golden crostini and exceptional cruschi peppers. The contrast between the velvety creaminess of the beans and the bold crunch of the peppers is an explosion of flavor that primes the palate for perfection.
First Courses and Pizza: Mastery and Tradition
We continued with a tube of Controne beans, a technically perfect dish: perfect, flavorful, and incredibly digestible.
The real surprise, however, was the pizza: pure Neapolitan style, thin, light, and with a dough so well-leavened that it was extremely digestible. All washed down with an excellent house wine, genuine and sincere.
The Soul of the Place: Hospitality and Professionalism
What makes this place unique, however, is the soul of the people. The owners' helpfulness and professionalism are the driving force behind everything: they make you feel immediately at home, guiding you through the daily specials with passion.
Special praise goes to the waitress Adele di Postiglione: impeccable, fast, and endowed with that genuine kindness that transforms a simple dinner into a moment of true well-being. It's rare to find such a close-knit and customer-focused staff.
The Perfect Ending
To round off the meal on a high note, we enjoyed a slice of fig and walnut cake, with its delicate flavor and subtle aroma of figs—a perfect way to end a meal. We were offered an Annurca apple liqueur, which was also exceptional: fragrant, fresh, and perfect for capping off a memorable meal. We'll definitely be back.

The service deserves more stars. We arrived early for lunch but were warmly welcomed and shown to our seats. No problem at all. Afterwards, we were treated to rosé and delicious cheese. Choosing the dishes was a real pleasure. Every single one was a recommendation and a delight. The service was lovely, the staff very friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Stop by, take a look – it's pure joy.

A truly positive experience. Mr. Donato immediately proved to be extremely kind, welcoming, and attentive to his customers, making us feel right at home.
