La Tana In Bergamo

Typical restaurant in upper Bergamo. Our table was without a tablecloth, like others, and dancing like the waiter who was stretching. An attempt at refined cuisine but without success. The person in charge of the orders was knowledgeable but a bit arrogant in his approach. Poor menu, average quantity/quality food... the price is not worth the lunch.

“La Tana” brings back the sense of “once upon a time” home, an ancient and rustic style, which enhances the architectural typicality of the place and at the same time updates it with more modern notes. The atmosphere “warms”; the beautiful open fireplace takes you back to those historical images of when the custom was to gather and experience conviviality, this is what you perceive while sitting at one of the tables. The staff dances in a playful and happy manner - their looks convey serenity and their actions are truly captivating! The walls show a lot of history, written finds from distant eras, memories of old but significant wind instruments, the rustic walls speak of their past - a retro flavor that is enhanced by your typical cuisine. From the menu it is difficult to choose, each dish speaks of the typical Bergamo area so why decide!?! — we opted to order different dishes in order to be able to taste them and it was surprising: from the magnificent platter with cold cuts and other dishes which together were a explosion of taste and flavours, from the fatty beef steak that told itself, to the pinzimonio with beef marrow, continuing on the casoncelli Bermaschi, which must simply be tasted to understand, ending with the Guancia braised meat and polenta and with rosy beef shoulder cover….. Last but not least the desserts! For those who love good food (which is "at home" here) combined with our dear wine, the wine list offers excellent choices! La Tana can be tasted with the eyes and above all with the palate!!!!!

We had dinner at this place based on the good reviews and it was a truly pleasant discovery. Excellent dishes, quality products and good wine list! Casoncelli, cassoeula and polenta are really very good! Attentive and quick service. Advised!

We ate at this restaurant, it is very cozy, it is in the old town of Bergamo Alto. There is a very good collection of 270 Italian wines. The food is well presented, reasonable portions, the menu has unique dishes from the house. Good service.

Superb gastronomical experience from start to end. I had beef heart tartare and sheep liver with crab bisque. Both were absolutely delicious and quite unique. The wine selection was also very good and, finally, I had a great chat about music with the owner, who is a gentleman.

Very beautiful and evocative, the choice of vegan dishes among traditional dishes from the Bergamo tradition was much appreciated even if there was no vegan dessert. Super honest prices, excellent quality

Pleasant place with amicable staff and caring chef, just a few steps from center of Citta Alta, out of the crowds. Offered meals are delicious, with fresh ingredients, wines also very tasty. Happy to come along, definitely worth a visit if looking for a fine cuisine in a calm and cozy place.
