We visited the restaurant, not the hotel. First of all: It's a lovely setting, and the short walk through the village to get there is really nice. The food was good, but not worth the asking price. We were really intrigued by the salad as a main course for €34 (!)... What arrived was a small green mixed salad. Barely bigger than a bowl of breakfast cereal. That was it.
The service also didn't match the price. No explanation of the dishes was provided, no second glass of wine was offered, and no water was refilled. The "dessert menu" consisted only of different flavors of ice cream, two scoops for €8. Overall, a solid meal in lovely surroundings – if only it had cost 30% less.
Ended up here based on Michelin website. Beautiful location right at the top of a mountain village. Friendly welcome.
We order an aperitif. 2 minutes later our starter was on the table, the chef did not want to wait.
Starter was tasty, main course absolutely not.
Price quality insufficient.
Unfortunately
We stayed at La Sosta Di Ottone III for 3 nights.
The arrival instructions that come via email are definitely worth reading. Parking and the monorail ride were straightforward.
The room with the view was fantastic. The food and breakfast are excellent. And if you're looking for peace and quiet with a fantastic view, this is the place for you. If you want to, you can only hear the church clock every hour, and that's about it in terms of noise. The advice we received about possible excursions and activities was very friendly and personalized. Overall, we can wholeheartedly recommend La Sosta. A typical "pretty hotel" decorated with great attention to detail. We certainly don't understand why this hotel only received 2 stars in the country's hotel category. Many thanks to the entire team for the wonderful 3 nights!
UNIQUE & LOVELY experience from bottom to top beginning with a calming brook-side wait on a bench for 4 minutes for a monorail Funicular to pick up you & your luggage and bring you to the top (we took a taxi from the Levanto train station for €20). We were greeted by owner Angela whose warmth and instructions were welcome! She oriented us to the property, the restaurant and the village. Nothing was left out. Our suite was the Silvestro II, the one with yellow walls. Our view from the window is tremendous: the village, the church Tower and the sea beyond. We did not mind the sounds of the church bells. In fact, we found them beautiful companions to this unique stay. We enjoyed Sunday apertivos and dinner at the Michelin-rated restaurant here. The staff were professional and good humored and we felt like we were with family (a special shout out to Andrea). I especially love the spacious marbled bathroom of our room and the big deep tub. It was also very kind of Angela to undertake hanging our laundry up for us because we needed to hand wash a few things. There are so many things to recommend La Sosta that I could go on forever. I took a look at some of the negative reviews and I want to say that some of those people have to be negatively-intentioned from the get-go, perhaps their motive always is to get something for nothing. Any challenges connected with this property are well communicated, especially about the hills and the monorail and needing to check in before 6 PM. If you are going to engage a unique space, you should read the instructions from its operator. Kudos to Angela and her staff for a superlative operation. You are a gift to the Universe!
