Takes away or adds….Who knows! The Municipality of Vasto and the Tourist Board had the idea of ​​symbolizing female beauty by having this bronze statue created by the sculptor Aldo D’Adamo of Ortona. It is mistakenly called “Mermaid” but the monument is dedicated to the bather, the undisputed protagonist of the Vasto summer seaside. It is placed on the Scaramuzza rock, was created in 1979, cast in bronze, weighs half a ton and is three meters and sixty centimeters tall. As the title says, it is not clear whether the bather is fastening or unfastening her bikini, to fully enjoy the sun and the beach of Vasto Marina. Who knows!
