I'm Brazilian and was traveling through Toscane, and so I visited the Localitta Malavolta, as it is my family surname. I was aware that La Piccionaia was a very well rated restaurant because I Google it before, but was not expecting to be so we'll received by the owner, Erika. They were fully booked for the night, but sill invited me and my wife to get inside (in a pretty cold night). She showed us all the restaurant, explained the story of the village and revealed her intentions to produce their own wine - the Malavolta wine. At the end she gave us as a gift some bruschetta and sweet pie, both were AMAZING. It was a memorable experience for us, letting clear that beyond the amazing food, La Piccionaia environment is what matters the most.

Everything was very good; the only flaw was the spaghetti with bacon and quail eggs, which was very salty. The pennette alla piccionaia was excellent, but the sausage was a bit too salty.

The place is truly welcoming, the staff is beyond exquisite, and not to mention the food... as good as the one your grandmother makes at home. Overall, a definite recommendation, we'll be back every week!!
