11/08/2024: Having lunch with relatives. Excellent fish. Generous portions. Punctual and attentive service. A little small but familiar place. Better to cool down in the summer. Welcoming owners. Honest prices.
22/06/2024: Unexpected and pleasant discovery in the center of Mandas (town center in the province of Cagliari). A family-run tavern, with a rather particular location on the first floor of a building.
Went for lunch with friends and colleagues on a work day, we entered an almost domestic and unexpected environment, with the staff starting service at that moment. Kind welcome with a smile (never taken for granted), and when asked what the chaf's recommendations were, we were told that the specialties were fish, and this surprised us a bit.
We left it to the chef, with a mix of seafood appetizers (hot and cold) that frankly left us speechless, both for their freshness and particularity, fresh octopus salami, spectacular bottarga with figs, delicious smoked swordfish with cherry tomato sauce with raw basilica, and slightly spicy, sensational fish ravioli battered in squid ink, on a bed of green bean pesto and fresh basil...etc, without forgetting the very fresh mussels, and with a delicious green sauce.
We continued with two truly amazing tastings of first courses, such as trofiette in fresh seafood sauce with squid ragout, prawns and sea herbs (light sauce) and a tasting of mackerel ravioli with typical Sardinian black truffle sauce with butter (spectacular ).
Further intrigued, despite the proposal of various fish fillets in various seasonings and the Catalan lobster, we tasted a second course of fried squid which turned out to be well done, not greasy and not heavy and in quantity!
We finished with two beautiful homemade desserts, we really appreciated the fresh white wine of the house which had a slightly vernacciato aroma, and finally we enjoyed a nice barricaded grappa at the end, pleasant and not excessively full of alcohol.
The bill, for those who are aware of the raw materials and the foods presented, was honest and not particularly expensive, 85 per couple.
I highly recommend this restaurant to those like us who love to discover a treat in the midst of a tradition that tells of other types of food.
Compliments!
I highly recommend it.
