We went for dinner at Mattera (Madia in the local dialect).
The atmosphere is simple but pleasant, the service is quick and attentive, and the food is good.
The menu isn't varied; it offers a weekly menu with two appetizers, two first courses, two second courses, and some desserts.
We chose spare ribs with peppers, rigatoni with white ragù, pigeon, and a bottle of rosé wine + water.
The spare ribs with peppers were special, the rigatoni was good, but the pigeon itself wasn't my cup of tea. I should point out that I've never eaten pigeon; perhaps my expectations were too high.

If you're in Foligno, you can't miss eating at Mattera. A true, honest osteria, serving quality dishes and traditional Umbrian cuisine. The menu changes weekly; there are just a few dishes, but they're all guaranteed to be a hit. An honorable mention goes to the pigeon, always on the menu and a house specialty. If (like me) you've never eaten it before, try it—you won't regret it! The friendly service makes you feel right at home. Bravo!

My wife and I had dinner here. The place is lovely, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and we felt pampered. I have to say the food was delicious. The meatball was spectacular, worthy of the "scarpetta" (a type of bread) at the end! The "ascolane al contrario" (a type of pasta) was delicious, and I'd say the "rigatoni al ragù dell'aia" (a type of ragù) was fantastic. We ended the evening with a homemade chocolate cake, which was delicious! I'd say it lived up to expectations! Kudos to the staff, keep up the good work!

Recommended by a local shopkeeper, we came to this osteria and were impressed by both the friendliness and courtesy and the excellent quality. We particularly enjoyed the carbonara with fresh pasta mezze maniche and black truffle. Not to be missed.
The dessert Matterina bianca with marinated melon was also excellent. Delicious. The house wine was also excellent.

A unique experience. A quaint and elegant restaurant in the historic center of Foligno. The owner is very friendly and helpful with recommendations and the weekly menu. The dishes, typical of Umbrian and Central Italian cuisine in general, are well-prepared, plentiful, and served with care and attention. A fully deserved five stars!

For a pleasant evening in Foligno, we stopped at this osteria in the center. The staff was excellent, especially Federico.
Upon recommendation, the products we ordered were excellent quality and excellent value for money.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
