A must-see in Bergamo Alta, and not just because it's the pastry shop that invented stracciatella-flavored gelato. La Marianna is a full-service café that, in addition to gelato (stracciatella is recommended, of course), also offers coffee, a variety of sweet and savory treats, and Christmas desserts in season. Ideal for a quick stop at the counter or a seat at one of its tables, both inside and out. Easily reached by bus No. 1, which passes through the city center and goes to the airport, and which terminates in Bergamo Alta right in front of La Marianna. Not to be missed.

I went for lunch on New Year's Day. Besides the fact that the food was divine, we were treated to a setting that made us feel at home. At the same time, the waiters and owner served us excellently, with professionalism and sensitivity. I will definitely be back ❤️

Going to upper Bergamo and not trying stracciatella gelato at the gelateria where it was invented? It's not bad! The gelato is truly delicious (and not just the stracciatella flavor). Prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

This is where Stracciatella was born. A very cute, clean, and historic place. There's also outdoor seating, but it's only recommended in summer due to the low winter temperatures. Inside, there's a counter with delicious desserts on display. We sat in a fairly large room decorated in a Christmas theme, fitting for the season. The bathrooms were clean.

This is where they invented my favorite gelato flavor, stracciatella, which continues to be truly excellent. Plus, they offer all kinds of high-quality desserts, cakes, pastries, and many other exceptional gelato flavors. Add to that the strategic location at the end of Bergamo Alta and the indoor and outdoor seating for a relaxing moment...well, nothing but positive things to say! I'll end by applauding the very friendly and polite staff, who, despite the huge crowds, proved more than up to par in terms of speed and quality of service!

Hotel Ristorante Pizzeria Azzurra

30/12/2025: We did not stay at the hotel, but had one of the pizzas we ever tasted. Reasonable priced is an understatment. Friendly staff.
21/09/2025: The place looks good overall... good pizza... with the option to customize the dough, for example, 9-grain, gluten-free, etc.... quick wait times... I haven't tried the restaurant dishes or desserts... but I did try the coffee... unfortunately, not to my liking...
