La Lampada In Roma

This restaurant was recommended to us by a receptionist (Fabio) at the nearby Hotel Medici. It turned out to be a wonderful discovery: the food was truly delicious and reasonably priced, unlike the often-distanced, more centrally located restaurants in Rome where you pay a fortune for very, very poor food. Furthermore, the entire staff was professional and courteous, making our stay in Rome a pleasant one. For all of this, this place is highly recommended!

For context: American tourists out for a late lunch/early dinner. Arrived shortly after they opened in the afternoon. We tried to speak as much Italian as possible. Highly recommended. One of our most pleasant dining experiences in Rome. The restaurant was clean, quiet, and had Formula 1 on the TV (my husband wanted to see the race so this was a pleasant surprise). The bathroom was the cleanest bathroom of any restaurant we’ve been to. The waiter was very kind. He switched to English for us (very appreciated, as my daughter doesn’t really understand Italian). He treated my daughter (4) like a person; gave her a menu, talked to her, took her order but still gave me the “do you approve that order?” look. The food was great. He brought out bread and olive oil to start. The food arrived pretty quickly. The gnocchi with mushrooms and cherry tomatoes was delicious. Cacio e Pepe was fantastic. Salmon was a hit with the kid. It was the first time in our week in Italy that potatoes came to our table hot. We ordered an equivalent to chocolate lava cake and were advised it would take a little longer than other desserts because of the way they needed to prepare it. The heads up was kind. While we were waiting, he brought biscotti (also very good!) and limoncello, on the house. That, the tiramisu, and panna cotta were delicious. Prices were very reasonable. They really only got over €20 when there were truffles in the dish. Most pastas were €10 and they serve slightly larger portions than other restaurants at the same price. The only reason we spent €20-30 per person is because we got wine, beer, and Coke in addition to water, and dessert.

I can’t recommend this place enough! My husband and I were in Rome for our honeymoon and were recommended by our hotel concierge to come here for dinner - and we’re so glad we went. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were all outstanding. Our waiter was especially wonderful - so kind, attentive, and knowledgeable, and his recommendations were spot on. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. The entire experience exceeded our expectations and ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.

We wish we had found this restaurant sooner. Delicious food, excellent service with a great waiter who entertained us with witty conversation.

We received a very warm welcome at this restaurant. The service was first-class, friendly, and very attentive. The food was typical Italian and very good. The prices, service, and ambiance were excellent – ​​pure holiday feeling. We will definitely come back again!
