Everything was really excellent, and the staff were very friendly. It's strange that there's no table service, but it's well organized, so it's not a hassle. I recommend it.

I went to this restaurant for lunch. We had the bread meatballs with tomato sauce as an appetizer, the orecchiette with ragù, and the cavatelli with pezzente sausage and cardoncelli mushrooms. Everything was delicious. There's no cover charge and everyone picks up their own dishes and brings them to their table. Everyone gets to be a waiter for a day.

The place is beautiful and unique. It's self-service, so I didn't rate it. The staff, however, is very kind and attentive. The prices seem a bit high, given that it's self-service.

You order at the entrance and collect your own food; it wasn't a problem for us, and they don't charge for cutlery. The restaurant is nice, and the waiter was friendly. We were among the last to arrive, so we were able to eat in a quiet atmosphere. The food was delicious. We ordered the charcuterie and cheese board, a meat dish (both included bread), and pasta. Good portions and flavor.

Cool place set in a cave. Very unique setting but do not offer table service. Food was mediocre, lacking flavour and a little bland. Although they had the best bread that I've had in Italy. Can't comment on service since there wasn't any. There was a person taking orders and clearing tables who was friendly,and efficient.

We had dinner at La Grotta Del Gusto, a cave restaurant literally across the road from our cave apartment.
Given the rough terrain (and rainy weather) we were happy to find such a good restaurant close by.
The funny part of it was they have no wait staff! You order at the bar and pick up your food when it’s ready. And no, you don’t need to bus your own table!
We started with peperoni cruschi, a specialty of the area. They are sweet peppers that have been dried and fried. They are potato chip-like (and addicting).
I had the lamb stew cooked in a terra-cotta pot; she had the cavatelli with cardoncelli mushrooms and sausage, along with a bottle of Primitivo from Basilicata. Perfect comfort food on a cold and damp night!

A truly unique experience in a real cave in the heart of Matera's historic center. What's unique is that there's no table service: you order and then collect it at the counter when called, a simple yet effective formula. Everything is delicious, and it's impossible not to stop by for a meal.

Ovviamente la lication è molto bella, ma offrono cibo di qualità e servizio veloce, anche se non hanno il servizio al tavolo per ora. Tutto davvero buono: antipasto prodotti tipici, tagliata, salsiccia, patata al forno, vino rosso locale. Molto disponile e gentile il personale. Ci torneremo sicuramente.
