Magical atmosphere inside the cave, everything spotlessly clean, polite and smiling staff, fast. The pizza is made in front of you by throwing the dough in the air and baked in a wood oven

Away from the traditional tourist circuit, "La Grotta degli Avi" is a troglodyte restaurant installed in an old underground oil mill typical of Puglia. We loved the special atmosphere of the cave and the raw rock walls. The cuisine is traditional, quality and the atmosphere is family.

The restaurant certainly offers a suggestive environment, housed in a natural cave. The tourist menu costs 23 euros and the first courses are really very poor. Not bad quality but nothing exceptional.

We ate there for Christmas 2024 and had a great time. I didn't expect such courtesy, good food and kindness from the owners. Fantastic location from all points of view. Highly recommended.

03/05/2025: Multo bene. Vis restaurant zoals het moet zijn ! Familie restaurant met passie voor vis, want viszaak naast dit restaurant. Heerlijk gegeten en zeer vriendelijke bediening . Sfeervol Ingericht. Maar het eten : nog beter en prima.
22/12/2024: Nel pieno centro storico di carovigno, un locale suggestivo e accogliente che offre ottimi piatto a base di pesce rivisitati in chiave moderna do ottima qualità e sapori ricchi . Per concludere ottima la torta con mele e cannella guarnita con crema calda al rum....strepitosa

21/05/2025: It's best to pre-book a table with several people. Whether outside in the summer with cozy lighting or in the restaurant when the weather is cool, the food is simply fantastic.😋😋
03/05/2025: The staff is very friendly, and there is no doubt about that. Pizza? Without infamy, and without praise. Maybe we were unlucky, but the waiting time to get the pizzas was one hour and ten minutes. I understand the rush hour, and I understand that it is Saturday evening, but since it is not a cheap place, a pizza costs on average 10 euros, you have to be more diligent. For the rest, cleanliness and education are flawless. Waiting time too long, and prices not among the cheapest, are the drawbacks.
