La Gatta Buia In Matera

€8 for two people for the cover charge is pathetic when you have a bill of €130... The seafood pasta was good, as was the dessert, and the dining room was lovely.

I don’t mind paying a higher price for an unforgettable experience. Sadly, this wasn’t the case here. I mean the food was acceptable but nothing special. The raw seafood starter was good but that doesn’t really require any cooking skills. I liked pasta with white meat ragout but the seafood pasta was unimaginative and boring. The service was appropriate but not particularly friendly. We kinda had a feeling that we are not really welcome. The whole atmosphere is cold and unwelcoming. A shame.

Magnificent, friendly staff and excellent welcome!

We had the most delicious meal here! We shared the foam beans and chickory for entree. We were given a smaller bowl each and it was more of a creamy purée than foam but really great with the raw crunchy chickory. My husband had the cod which he enjoyed, but I chose the risotto which was out of this world! On the top were multiple rings of red, white and green consisting of Parmesan cream, olives and capers and also small pieces of anchovies. Yum!

I went there last Sunday for a family event. I immediately interfaced with Stefano who welcomed me with the right kindness and who insisted on hosting me before confirming. My wife and I "explored" what the kitchen of La Gattabuia had to offer and then confirmed our event. I asked the two owners (Stefano and Giuseppe) to pamper my guests and to be accomplices with me in a special day; and so it was: Excellent quality food, dishes served at the right times, kindness, courtesy and professionalism. My guests spent a pleasant and "tasty" afternoon and therefore I can only recommend this place which fully met my expectations.

The environment is intimate and well-kept, with a warm atmosphere that enhances the charm of the tuff and the soft lights. Highly recommended the Candele “Selezione Gentile”, Canestrato di Moliterno, pepper and Crusco pepper ketchup, simply exceptional, as well as the Gnummeredde, new potatoes, artichoke cream, cherry gel, anything but banal. The desserts? An unmissable final treat. La Gattabuia is the ideal place for those looking for authenticity, quality and impeccable service in the heart of the most fascinating city in Italy. We will definitely return on our next visit to Matera.

Seit 7 Jahren haben wir mehrmals das Restaurant besucht - immer ein pures Vergnügen und eine Küche, die höchster Perfektion entspricht! "La Pigniata Brasato di agnello" war so fantastisch, dass wir es gleich nochmals bestellt haben. "Spaghettone selezione gentile ai Frutti di mare" und "Baccalà" waren aussergewöhnlich. Wenn man einen gelungenen Abend mit unglaublichem lokalem Essen mit einem innovativen Touch haben möchte, kann man hier nicht richtig genug sein - wir kommen wieder!

Siamo stati ad inizio maggio per cen. Bello il ristorante, proprio al centro e ottime le materie prime oltre che il servizio. Abbiamo mangiato piatti della tradizione di matera ma con quel pizzico di innovazione che stimola la curiosità. Lo consiglio sicuramente!
