It's an authentic, traditional osteria, of which there are unfortunately fewer and fewer. Located in the countryside about a kilometer from Bereguardo, it's a simple but welcoming place, with efficient and friendly staff. The cuisine is what you'd expect from such a place: traditional, plentiful, and flavorful. The best thing is the excellent value for money. The only drawback is the lack of proper parking. It's a typical place that, if you like this type of restaurant, is highly recommended.

Excellent, quaint osteria with a fixed-price lunch menu or à la carte options. Excellent, fast service with good-quality food. I didn't give it five stars because of the difficulty with street parking. Still, worth a try.

On a typical, foggy winter Sunday, you can fully appreciate the warmth of a country inn like La Gallina Fumante only if you live in the Po Valley. The welcoming atmosphere and the warm, enveloping colors make you feel immediately at home. The owner greets us, asks if any of the guests have food intolerances, and reminds us that Sunday lunch is a fixed menu (restaurant owners aren't always this professional, and I personally appreciated that). We sit down, and after a short wait, the numerous courses on the menu arrive. I found them all excellent and in keeping with the style of the restaurant. The portions are just right, and by the time you get to dessert, you're full. If someone stops first, no problem: you can take home what you don't eat. A completely positive experience, recommended if you want to try quality country cuisine.

Decent, poor value considering it's in the middle of the countryside in a location reminiscent of Aunt Maria's house. If you have a dog, you'll have to eat outside, so bring a jacket.
