La Fraschetteria Di Mastro In Roma

We literally placed our suitcases in our accommodation and decided to go for a walk, and see what was available for lunch around 1430. We came across Mastro Giorgio. This restaurant is beautifully decorated and is very cosy. They have an excellent selection of contemporary Italian dishes. Of those, we chose the tonarelli pasta " Cacio peperoncino e cicoria" and the "Bucatani con le sarde". Both dishes were exceptional and this was my first time eating pasta with sardines, which actually worked really well together. The tonarelli pasta dish is this restaurant's signature dish and a must try. If we had more stomach space we would have definitely tried more dishes. We highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. We would like to thank Andrea for being so polite and courteous. He was very helpful and made our time at Mastro Girgio very pleasant. We will try to come here again before we leave Rome!

Everything was delicious! You need to book because there were a lot of people on Sunday for lunch. But even eating outside, it was super good! :) Tip: get the cannoli (you get three small ones to fill at the same table). Fun to make and yummy to eat! :)

We had an excellent meal here during a recent stay in Testaccio. Enjoyed our table on the patio, excellent service, and each course was delicious. Gnocchi was a standout item.

This is a fantastic restaurant in a quiet neighborhood a bit off the beaten track. We had a starter of roasted eggplant encrusted in a fried batter with a delicious and intriguing sauce. Following that, we had two pasta primis that were very unique and delicious takes on traditional Roman dishes. Finally we had a wonderful dolce with strawberry gelato and a warm chocolate brownie/cake with fresh strawberries and a subtle strawberry sauce. The food was over the top, the service was absolutely impeccable, and the prices were good considering the quality of both the food and the experience. We ate at several places in Rome, using both Tripadvisor’s and Stanley Tucci’s recommendations as guides. This was far and away the best food and service we had in Roma. We have been to Italy many times and have eaten in some of the best restaurants in many of the places we have visited, including Venezia, Padova, the Dolomites, etc. This meal ranks at the very top of our gastronomical experiences in a country renowned for its food. The son of one of the partners in the business was our server, and he was both engaging and full of excellent recommendations. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in the best that Rome has to offer!

Super nice restaurant. Food was great but the best part was the service - incredibly caring staff, too bad the place doesn't take tips on card payments. They should change that!

Sometimes the desire to find new combinations or ingredients yields great results. Others become a worry that loses sight of the essentials. A tavern that turns into a gourmet restaurant (with prices that are decidedly too high) is always a bad sign. It means gentrification and a substantial loss of identity, in favor of an often senseless sophistication. Some dishes are very tasty (but certainly too expensive), others unnecessarily sophisticated (and always too expensive). For now the experiment is not worth the price.

Davvero strano trovare una fraschetta in un quartiere dedito alla movida, eppure c'è e sembra di essere sospesi nel tempo. Mangiare fuori, con la bella stagione, senza ingombrare un marciapiedi è quasi un regalo! Il menù unisce i classici della cucina romana, ben eseguiti, con proposte più originali e molto divertenti. Ottima la qualità della materia prima, giustissimi i tempi di attesa dei piatti, ottime proposte di vini, anche al calice. In più un servizio affabile, presente ma non invadente. Ci si torna di sicuro!

Assolutamente consigliabile. Era la prima volta che andavamo e ci torneremo sicuramente quando torneremo a Roma. Disponibilità e cortesia del personale, cibo assolutamente di qualità. Piatti ricercati con un gusto assolutamente chiaro e unico. Da provare
