La Focagna In Matera

We dined outdoors at this taverna. What can I say? Very good traditional cuisine, very helpful staff, fast service, and fair prices.

I discovered it by chance while walking. We ate inside, which is really well-kept. I only had the chance to try two dishes, but I was really satisfied. I'll definitely be back.

On August 9, 2025, I was in Matera for work, and I was fortunate enough to enjoy a wonderful day with my family. We chose to stop at La Focagna Restaurant, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is truly charming, refined, and welcoming, perfect for further appreciating the unique beauty of Matera. The staff was attentive, helpful, and very friendly, always smiling. But the real star was the food: sublime dishes, rich in flavor and prepared with great care, which took us on an extraordinary gastronomic journey. Everything was perfect, from the starters to the main courses, right down to the desserts, which rounded out the dinner in style. An experience to remember and definitely worth repeating! Congratulations to the entire La Focagna staff. August 19, 2025 I returned to Matera with great expectations, remembering the wonderful experience I had on August 9th with my family. This time, unfortunately, I must say I was disappointed. The place proved to be very clean and well-kept, and the staff was as kind and welcoming as ever. However, the real sore point was the food: overcooked and poorly prepared, a far cry from the extraordinary quality I'd found the previous time. A real shame, because it was precisely thanks to the previous experience that I had decided to return with great enthusiasm. I hope it was just an isolated incident, but the difference compared to August 9th was truly noticeable.

A non-touristy place, the perfect atmosphere to immerse yourself in traditional flavors. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, and truly exceptional food at competitive prices. Highly recommended!

Ottimo il cibo è il servizio, l'ambiente è di uno stile molto piacevole.

We ate lunch and dinner at this restaurant, trying both the outdoor and indoor areas. Both were beautiful! Excellent food and friendly staff! I highly recommend the orecchiette with turnip tops and scialatielli with cherry tomatoes and pistachios. Definitely worth a bite! Generous portions!

Este lugar es ideal si buscas un lugar con buena comida local y fresca, y quieres disfrutar de un tipo de ambiente medieval en su interior.

Posto perfetto sia per il pranzo che per la cena. Posizione strategica e comoda da raggiungere. Piatti veramente squisiti. Cameriere (ragazzo) veramente gentile e professionale. Ci ritorneremo assolutamente! 😊
