A true Roman gem.
I visited La Carbonara restaurant and had a simply wonderful experience. The owner deserves special praise: empathetic, sweet, polite, and with that kindness that makes you feel instantly at home. She even offered me something extra to eat, a gesture that speaks louder than a thousand words about the care and attention she puts into her work.
The staff was also impeccable: smiling, helpful, and always attentive. The atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming, just what you look for in a restaurant in Rome when you want to experience true Roman hospitality. The food is traditional, authentic, and truly delicious, with a perfectly fair price for the quality.
One interesting fact that struck me: it's a very famous restaurant in Japan, something I didn't know and which adds even more charm to its history.
I will definitely be back and I recommend it without hesitation.
Keep up the good work!

The signature carbonara was a masterpiece!
The eggs were cooked in a delicate way, showcasing the true essence of authentic, cream-free cooking. I paired it with the powerful local white wine, Frascati, and the minerality washed away the fat from the guanciale beautifully.
The baccala frites were excellent, with a light batter that Japanese people love. The white wine disappeared surprisingly quickly.
The main course, Coda alla Vaccinara (braised oxtail), was irresistible, with the meat falling off the bone and the aroma of celery. These substantial dishes were paired with aged Brunello di Montalcino.
The mellow tannins further enhanced the rich sauce and the deep flavor of the oxtail.
After the meal, we had a glass of grappa with homemade tiramisu. The aromatic aroma and the heat of the alcohol as it went down our throats made the afterglow of the meal even more exceptional.
My companion, who had drunk too much, finished off the meal with a refreshing chilled limoncello.
In the lively atmosphere of the restaurant, we enjoyed a luxurious time savoring fine alcohol, food, and the history of the city all at once.
Our food journey continues.

The restaurant is truly beautiful and quaint. The owner is kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Generous portions and everything is delicious...the carbonara is amazing, creamy and with crispy bacon. The Roman-style artichokes and zucchini flowers are incredible. Highly recommended. We were a group of six and everyone left satisfied and with full bellies. We'll be back.

This is the restaurant where carbonara originated. The customers are all Japanese. As other reviews have said, the taste is quite salty. It's tasty, but not particularly impressive. They said it would take a while to serve, so I was happy that it arrived sooner than expected. The saltimbocca is also quite salty, so alcohol is a must. The Campari soda has a strong Campari flavor and a bitter taste. Despite being a long-established restaurant, the food and drinks are not too expensive, so it's definitely worth a visit. The pasta dishes other than carbonara also looked delicious, so if you're coming with a group, it might be a good idea to order other pastas as well.

I cannot express just how good this restaurant is. I came with my sister and then came solo. My family is Italian, and this is the real deal in Rome. We had eaten in a few places that were not, but seriously, eat here. You will love it. Fresh pasta. Sauces to die for. Great wine. Beautiful staff who welcomed me to Rome for the first time, even though my father is Italian. I wish I found this place sooner! ❤️❤️❤️
