La Carbonara In Roma

Now for the 2nd time here for dinner! The tastiest pasta carbonara I've had here so far! Definitely recommended to eat here :) If you make a reservation you will be seated inside, the atmosphere is a bit bare and you will sit among the “locals” but that does not make the food any less tasty!😉

We had lunch inside on the ground floor. Lunch was excellent. The portions are right, except for the starters which are a little small. The quality is there. The service was good

You can immediately see that you are in a real, traditional restaurant, excellent food, good service, beautiful place. The only flaw is having put on the bill a fictitious "selection of bread" equal to €3 per person, instead of the old cover charge which has been abolished, in short, a cunning act at the expense of the customers!

I first read about La Carbonara in Lunch in Rome by Andreas Viestad, and that was enough to make me curious. Inspired by the book, I decided to visit—and I’m so glad I did. La Carbonara at Campo de’ Fiori is a true gem for those who appreciate quality in every aspect—food, service, and atmosphere. What makes this place truly special is the peaceful environment. Unlike many restaurants in Rome, there is no loud music or overwhelming noise. Instead, you can fully immerse yourself in the flavors of your meal, enjoying a quiet, intimate dining experience. The service is exceptional, handled by experienced Italian waiters who have been working there for years. Their professionalism and warmth make you feel genuinely taken care of. Adding to the charm, the owners are present in the restaurant, bringing a personal touch and a heartfelt dedication that is reflected in every detail. One of the highlights of my visit was a short conversation with the owner about the olive oil they serve with bread. It has an extraordinary taste—rich, smooth, and clearly of the highest quality. Every ingredient here seems to be carefully selected, reinforcing the sense that this is a place where passion for food and hospitality come first. If you are looking for a restaurant where everything is in perfect harmony—excellent cuisine, top-tier service, and a calm, refined atmosphere—La Carbonara is the place to go.

Many locals eating. Very busy. Good food. Good service. English spoken. Recommended.

Good but.. Very refined but touristy place. Mezze maniche alla carbonara: hard pasta, too al dente, delicious sauce and crispy bacon.

We tried a few restaurants near Campo de’Fiori and La Carbonara has the best meal and service among them. They are also pet friendly 🙏🐶
