I've already been there twice, the first time I ate the pizza it was excellent this time I tried the fish super abundant fresh dishes and staff always available even if the place was full excellent experience I recommend it

I had to return for a long time due to transfer, nothing has changed. Excellent food, attentive service (Federico), excellent advisor. Super value for money, welcoming and peaceful rustic environment. The only drawback is that parking is difficult for cars and it is necessary to anticipate the arrival time.

We've been wanting to dine here at La Caraffa for about twenty years and, despite living in the area, the opportunity had never arisen. You enter and find all the faces of the neighborhood, you sit down and time has gone back as if we were in a typical Appio Latino tavern from forty years ago. Federico welcomes you and then never abandons you but because he follows you throughout the evening even if only with glances, passes and winks. You have the impression that he is the owner but he himself says that he only lends a hand here. The flavors are authentic and the atmosphere is homely, the dishes are simple, the offer is essential, 3/4 dishes for each course, generous quantities, small attentions when it comes to dessert. You go to the cash register to pay the bill and only then do you realize that the changeover to the euro took place here too, but you go out into the street and this neighbourhood, in the darkness of the late evening, still doesn't seem to have returned to the present day. It must be the magic of the Carafe.

I haven't stopped going there since they first took me. The buffet starters and generous portions of first courses are the strong point. I suggest the imperial starter, tagliolini with artichokes, cherry tomatoes and fish (the dish also includes burrata, but I asked not to have any) and a nice grilled fish, in this case it was the sea bream. Be careful about parking, it's not very easy to find, so you have to go in time.

Friendly and courteous staff.. Very good pizza, very thin and crunchy.. The seafood appetizers and spaghetti with clams are also delicious.. I'm happy to go there every time I recommend it

Cordialità, simpatia, sapori eccellenti, piatti abbondanti: tutto questo si può trovare presso questo ristorante. Siamo stati per cena in questo posto e abbiamo preso un sauté di cozze come antipasto (piatto enorme), a seguire un tagliolino pesce spada, pistacchio e pachino (lo consiglio a chiunque di provarlo, piatto da 10 e lode) e una grigliata mista con fagiolini di contorno. Come scritto in precedenza, porzioni più che abbondanti, a fatica sono riuscito a finire il mio piatto di pasta. Personale di sala attento, cordiale, pronto a soddisfare ogni esigenza, bravi ragazzi. Rapporto qualità/prezzo imbattibile, complimenti. Dopo aver chiesto il conto ci hanno regalata dei cantucci al cioccolato fatti da loro, gesto bellissimo. Torneremo sicuramente per assaggiare altri piatti, ristorante che sarà un nostro punto di riferimento, di nuovo complimenti!

Neighborhood restaurant, specialized in fish dishes for both first and second courses, abundant dishes, very good fish starters. First courses with fish and traditional Roman first courses, very good fish second courses such as fried shrimp, mixed fried fish, fried fish, baked fish such as red snapper or sea bream or baked turbot with very good potatoes or vegetables. I highly recommend it. If you pay a little attention, the prices are acceptable considering that you eat fishing, if you eat a lot with multiple courses the price goes up but these days everything is expensive you can understand. However, the fish is always fresh and very good, the first courses are very abundant, I have always had a good time in this place and have always been satisfied.

22/03/2025: We chose to end our trip to Rome with an authentic experience, far from the usual tourist circuits, to immerse ourselves in the true Roman culinary tradition, the one that is too often forgotten. For this reason, we relied on Checchino, a restaurant that not only offers the great classics such as gricia and cacio e pepe, but also preserves and passes on with passion dishes that tell the gastronomic history of the city. Here, food is more than just a meal: it is culture, memory and courage. Not everyone is used to tasting pajata, the appetizer with head, beans with pork rinds, tripe or trotters, but those who truly love cooking should allow themselves the pleasure of overcoming every preconception and savoring the depth of these ancient flavors. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with wood burning in the fireplace and discreet and impeccable service. We chose a half portion of gricia, one of macaroni with ragù alla vaccinara, a Roman-style artichoke prepared with mastery, artichokes with coratella and an incredible pajata. All accompanied by half a liter of Syrah, two coffees and a bottle of water, for a bill of less than 30 euros per person. An experience that we recommend to those who truly want to understand the soul of Roman cuisine, without fear or hesitation. A sincere thank you to the owners, who with dedication and respect for tradition carry on a job that is perhaps not always easy to understand, but essential to keep the authentic gastronomic history of the city alive.
