Everything at the top...we were welcomed with a smile and extreme kindness, both from the owners and the staff, the place is a beautiful jewel in the heart of Albenga and the food exquisite, with excellent quality raw materials and original dishes with a unique taste The choice of wines offered by the cellar is excellent... in short, thank you very much for the splendid evening to Re Carciofo and his staff!!!

Now a regular customer and I can confirm hands down that it is the best place in Albenga; elegance, kindness and friendliness distinguish the fantastic artichoke king, which offers the possibility of spending an evening with an aperitif or dinner. The food is exceptional, the king's loaf of bread and the quality of the cheeses and cured meats are highly recommended, the staff is more than kind and the owner is uniquely friendly. Nonetheless, I would like to underline that the real extra something is the beauty of the place, a square of authentic beauty adorned as best as it could be. Truly congratulations to Enzo for giving Albenga such a beautiful place. Highly recommended!!!

Characteristic place in the heart of Albenga, located in a small square full of plants and flowers. You can simply have an aperitif choosing from the various platters of cold cuts and cheeses accompanied by a glass of your choice (at the price of 15 euros) or dine with an à la carte menu. In both cases you won't be disappointed: generous platters accompanied by crunchy croutons and a vast choice of both meat and fish dishes to best enjoy dinner surrounded by greenery. Particularly on the menu are the king's gourmet sausages as an exclusive dish of the cellar, which we reserve the right to try on the next occasion together with the second courses. After the platters we in fact had two first courses: green gnocchi with the scent of the sea and rigatoni amatriciana with bacon, Savonese onion and Sardinian pecorino, both excellent and plentiful! The wine cellar is also large. The service was quite fast and attentive, despite the large turnout on Friday and the difficulty in managing so many tables. The owner was very kind and welcoming, honest bill. We left full and satisfied, I would say an experience to be repeated as soon as possible!

We have dinner here every time when in Albenga. The owner always greets us in a kind manner and asks us how we’ve been. Yesterday evening, I tried the Tagliata with Spumato and Black Truffel on top for the first time (not entirely sure how the dish was called. It was super delicious, the meat was well cooked. Despite lots of comments on here, I truly believe that the price-food ratio is totally fine. We will always come back! Grazie a tutti!!

Very suggestive location, good food served with care, unacceptable waiting times between courses... more than an hour without warning.

Really nice location, almost an entire small square with tables and trees all well looked after. I order a starter and a first course, fortunately the waitress advises me to start with the starter and then evaluate because it's really full. You're right, Parma ham and artichokes, there must have been 3/4 ounces of raw ham, all very good accompanied with croutons of their own production with oil on top. My girlfriend eats the catch of the day (croaker) which is truly delicious. The only flaw, while I'm ordering, at 9.30pm I ask for a Campari spriz and I am denied, telling me that the ice is too far from the Campari and therefore there was no time... Not very cute. Super friendly and smiling owner.

Location nel pieno centro storico di Albenga, molto suggestiva. Proprietario e personale gentilissimi e attentissimi a soddisfare ogni esigenza. Il titolare ci ha offerto dell’ottimo prosciutto crudo da accompagnare alla focaccia che avevamo ordinato nell’attesa dei primi di pesce che, tra l’altro, erano spettacolari. Locale consigliatissimo

Was für ein grossartiges Restaurant! Vom professionellen und tollen Service, über den authentischen und freundlichen Besitzer (il Re Carciofo), über das wunderschönste Ambiente und das perfekte Essen! Wir waren mit unseren zwei kleinen Kinder diese Woche gleich zweimal da, weil es so schön und lecker war. Beides mal haben wir ohne Reservation noch einen Tisch bekommen (das Restaurant war an beiden Abenden voll) und wurden von den Kellnern top bedient. Der bunte Salat war sehr knackig und lecker, die Amatriciana-Pasta war einsame spitze und auch ging der Koch auf meinen Extrawunsch ein, mir Penne mit Tomatensugo zu kochen. Der Tomatensugo war eine der besten Sugos, die ich je gegessen habe. Auch den Primitivo, den wir im Glas bestellen konnten, war sehr gut. Der Chef war an beiden Abenden anwesend und nahm sich beide Male Zeit, sich nach unserer Meinung über das Essen zu erkunden und mit uns zu plaudern - dies aber keinesfalls aufdringlich sondern sehr angenehm und respektvoll. Sicher eines der rundum tollsten Restaurante, die wir in den letzten Jahren besucht haben. Absolute Empfehlung! Wir kommen sicher wieder! Grazie mille e alla prossima!

Really excellent quality of food. Refined products that repay the mouth.

The restaurant is beautifully located in a square in the old town of Albenga. The prices are well above the local average, which wouldn't be so bad if the food was good enough. Starter (salad for 10€ and foccacia) were okay, the main course (pasta with fish) was unfortunately not appropriate for the price (fish was very overcooked and one dish was very salty). The worst thing about that evening, however, was the way the boss treated his staff. He had no real job other than constantly reprimanding his employees. No employee ever smiled, everyone just rushed around the tables. We also found it strange that all employees wore headsets???!!! All of this completely destroyed the atmosphere. We have never experienced anything like this in Italy. A pity! I feel sorry for the people who work there.
