We visited the living nativity scene in Morano Calabro, and this place came highly recommended. I must say, it was a good thing we listened to their advice... traditional products, simple, old-fashioned cuisine, specialties being cavatelli and cod! Truly excellent. A great find.

Excellent place. Despite being packed on a Saturday night, they managed to find me a seat quickly and kindly. The service was impeccable: those who looked after us at the table gave us sincere and targeted recommendations, and it was clear that they were designed with us in mind, not for convenience. The appetizer was plentiful and perfectly cooked, with authentic flavors that truly reflect the local cuisine. The dairy products and cured meats were fresh and of the highest quality. The variety of dishes was also excellent. I tried the roast lamb: simply extraordinary, tender and flavorful, it melted in your mouth. An experience I would recommend to anyone who wants to experience true local tradition.

Easy to get to from the village, but don't use Google Maps. Just go about ten meters past the turnoff for the historic center, heading toward Campotenese. You'll find it on the left. Traditional cuisine. Generous portions and fair prices.

La Cantina di Morano Calabro is a place that preserves the authentic soul of Calabrian peasant cuisine. There's no room for frills or aesthetic indulgence: here, honesty reigns supreme, the authenticity of a tradition expressed without filters, in a rustic, familiar, uncluttered, and, for this very reason, welcoming setting. The first courses are the heart of the culinary offering. The cavatelli with mushrooms stands out for their intense and well-balanced aromas, while the version with cod and mushrooms adds a marine note that intertwines with the earth in a surprising balance. The combination with sausage is also excellent, evoking the home kitchens of village festivals. The second courses remain good, but don't quite reach the intensity and depth of the first courses, leaving the impression of a cuisine that shines through in its handmade pasta dishes and traditional local sauces. The house wine deserves a special mention: a still red with a bold character, featuring vigorous tannins that may initially surprise, but which, with time and at the right temperature, soften, revealing a pleasant roundness and a sincere drinkability, perfect for accompanying the robust flavors of the cuisine. La Cantina is, ultimately, a place to rediscover the most authentic Calabria: a gastronomic experience that doesn't seek the spotlight, but rather captivates with authenticity, simplicity, and respect for its roots.

Delicious authentic Calabrian dinner with wine for our last night in Morano Calabro. Perfect hospitality and a warm atmosphere. Our host gave us small tasting of entrees and desert as an extra. Felt bad when my tight husband didn't leave a tip!
