19/05/2025: I hesitated to write a review for this restaurant.
The reason is that I firmly believe that it is a place loved by the locals.
If the kind service and excellent quality of food we experienced here were to spread, tourists would flock here like a rugby scrum.
And that could deprive the locals of a precious corner of tranquility, which makes me hesitate.
However, I cannot suppress the desire to express my gratitude to the owners and so I leave this review.
As for the rating of the place, as many say, if I could give 10 stars, I would.
If I were a Michelin inspector, I would give three stars without hesitation.
My experience here was so amazing.
The quality of the ingredients and the preparation of each dish are impeccable.
The salad is surprisingly fresh, so much so that it even seems to have beneficial properties for digestion.
At first bite, my gut flora began to clamor for more, triggering an incredible craving.
The zuppa toscana is sublime.
I know it may seem strange, but the moment I tasted the zuppa, I was reminded of the days when I would come home from college and my mother would lovingly prepare my favorite dishes.
It was as if I was enjoying a dish that had always been dear to me, cooked with love, as if I were a son welcomed back home.
The steak is the best in the world.
I have been fortunate enough to taste various types of high-quality meat, including the best Japanese wagyu, but there is no doubt: the steak at this restaurant is unmatched.
The cooking is exactly how I had always dreamed it would be, and the seasoning, while simple, is the pure essence of umami.
During our stay in Florence, we dined here two out of three times.
Last time we went to Zaza, which should give you an idea of how fascinated we were by this place.
I had always proudly believed that Tokyo was the world capital of gastronomy, but now, after tasting the dishes of this restaurant, I fear that I am condemned to wander around Japan like a Tuscan zombie, desperately searching for these flavors.
I don't know when, but I sincerely hope that this place will continue to be the same, in the same place, with the same incredible quality.
I wish the owners a long and healthy life, although, considering how healthy their cuisine is, they probably won't need such a wish.
18/05/2025: Did not have a reservation but they fit our group of 4 in straight away. From our seats we could see into the kitchen and the entire family preparing every dish. Everything we had was excellent and Got a small history of the place and the family and we would definately return. Worth the short walk from the tourist city center!
