I have never eaten lamb like this. Like veal with tuna sauce. Or the porcini mushrooms that smelled of the forest. Or the candy cream. The prices have increased...

I've been to this family trattoria several times, which is in a relatively untouristy location. I like the old-fashioned style, the living room. The owner, an older gentleman, was very nice and friendly. Recommends something if you let him. Unfortunately the quality and freshness of the food has declined recently. Most recently I had Porcini arrosto, they weren't exactly great for the price, but they were good. The pasta with vongole was very thin in terms of the number of mussels and too buttery. The Carciofi are recommended in both variations. It's a place that makes me a bit melancholy, so I don't want to judge too harshly. So: a recommendation for La Balestra!

Typical Roman lunch for four people: we ate fried artichokes, Roman artichokes, sautéed chicory, marinated anchovies and salmon, tonnarelli cheese and pepper, roast beef and rigatoni amatriciana. All very good with a more than quick, courteous and friendly service. Super recommended!

Having dined here for 2 dinners and 2 lunches I can say the following.
The pizzas are very very good. The pizza is very thin crust and the dough is flavourful on its own without the toppings. Porcini mushrooms were in season so that’s what we had and it was excellent. As for the pasta we tried carbonara, amatriciana and black truffles on 3 different occasions and found them excellent and consistent. Al dente without being undercooked. The sauces fresh and smelling of the underlying ingredients.
The whole sea bass was very good and the brill or rhombus sole was beyond excellent.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. One thing to note here in 2024 is that there were very few tourists despite proximity to hotels and as a result there were no queues.

Serata di sabato in famiglia, la sera prima di correre la Maratona.
Classica cena romana con cacio e pepe.
Ambiente accogliente, cibo buono, prezzo onesto.
Il resto ce lo mette Roma, con il quartiere Coppedè vicino ed una bella serata di fine inverno/inizio primavera.
A Roma è davvero difficile mangiare male, e questo posto lo conferma.

Ci vado veramente spesso perché ho casa di un amico molto vicina al posto, questa recensione è la somma di tutte le volte che ho mangiato da Dio in questo ristorante, mai mangiato male e penso di essere andato almeno 10-15 volte, bonus per i funghi freschi e il carciofo
