Johnny Micalusi Restaurants In Roma

After days of eating no fish in Rome, I decided to give this seafood place a try. Walked in early and they nicely took me in (place was full when I was done.) Look carefully at the menu, they have tasting menu for both the raw and cooked appetizers. We took both and they were fantastic. They can do a seafood pasta if you want, and it was fantastic. My fish was excellent. Next time I will be more adventurous and order one of those fish in the display that I have never tried. I would say this is an excellent seafood place. The best I have had, not counting the Japanese sushi places. Better than all the fresh seafood places I have had in Paris. I highly recommend it, and look forward to coming back to Rome for this restaurant.

Micalusi Fish House in Rome is seafood paradise disguised as a restaurant. We started with not one, but two tartars—because moderation is for people who don’t love fish. Both were fresh, bright, and melt-in-your-mouth fantastic. Then came two different fish rolls that redefined what “outstanding” means. If the ocean had a Michelin star, it would probably eat here. The red shrimp carpaccio was… well, let’s just say “different.” Beautiful presentation, fascinating texture, and the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite to ask yourself, “Do I actually like this?”—which is honestly part of the fun. Then the pastas hit the table, and all was right with the world again. The seafood spaghetti was rich and balanced, the linguine with shrimp was so perfectly cooked it felt like a love letter to the sea. Both were absolute home runs. Dessert? The sampler. Every single bite was a show-stopper—creamy, rich, perfectly portioned, and completely unfair to every other dessert in Italy. Micalusi knows exactly what it’s doing: fresh seafood, creative twists, and just enough surprise to keep you talking about it long after the plates are cleared. A flawless 5/5. Would swim back tomorrow.
