A splendid, chaotic, intricate collection of plants from around the world, beautifully maintained and carefully organized in a labyrinth of paths dotted with works of art, both original and antique. Lou Reed practiced his morning exercises in these gardens. Unless you're a dedicated botanical enthusiast, it can be visited in about an hour and a half, but it's also lovely to linger in the small café at the top of the slope, shaded and overlooking the lake.
