IL VELIERO alla foce In Pisa

A pleasantly dated restaurant. The owner is friendly and helpful. It was a busy Sunday lunch. Service was slow, and the kitchen was struggling (we were right in front of the food delivery service). The pasta, ordered very al dente, arrived a bit overcooked (it's a shame it was precooked, too). The penne pasta wasn't suited to the sauce, and was a bit bland, but still not bad. The appetizers and fried seafood were good; the squid and shrimp were a bit greasy and undercooked, and a little paper towel would have been nice. The desserts were good, and the punch was excellent. Reasonable prices. Overall, a decent restaurant worth trying again, perhaps for dinner during the summer, midweek, when it's less crowded.

What can I say, the chef is a real fisherman and his wife treats you like you're at home. We'll definitely be back.

Good restaurant, good food, although unfortunately (I hope it was just our problem)... it was a bit heavy for us... excellent service!!

We always love returning to Il Veliero, and it never disappoints!!! La Barca is always a must, it's top-notch, and this time the mussels for an appetizer were excellent, and a great first course.... La Tarantina is a must-try, 10 out of 10!!!! As always, BRILLIANT!
